I'm in

This will be my 8th time participating in the main event and this time I've got so many potentially good ideas that I want to develop into a game! I like the theme and hopefully there wont be too many obstacles in the way for the main idea I have in mind.

As usual I will be using Unity3D with Blender.

Good luck ludumdarlings!

Timelapse for King of the world

What a fun weeekend but exhausting! I created King of the world which is a mixed turnbased/realtime strategy game where the objective is to take over the world.

description.png

King of the world is a game about a small world with three generals or “wanna be world leaders” that fight to claim the most areas, the objective of the game is to lead your general to victory by taking out all the other generals.

This game was originally intended to be part of the compo but I ran out of time and decided to polish it up a bit and enter the jam instead which I think was a good call.

Check out the timelapse if you want: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K3Q0HD4h44

Play the game here

Looking forward to playing all the games :)

I've had a couple of things to do this morning but know that I'm done I'm ready to go sometime later, I've got a great idea that fits with theme and this is going to be a great weekend :D

Good luck everyone.

Progress update

I've created a simple test scene using ProBuilder Basic and I'm using Nav Agents for the first time in a Ludum Dare game. They are trying their best to avoid getting stuck!

Avoider orthographic or perspective camera?

Hey guys, I'd like to say thanks for the very precious feedback that I received for my game avoider it was really useful.

I realized that I should have let someone play test my game before submitting but that is a little hard when everyone is asleep at 3AM monday morning, heh..

Anyway, I changed the camera to a perspective camera from orthographic and the difference is huge:

Here is the orthographic orginal version of the game: orthographic.gif

And here is the new version of the game with the perspective camera: orthographic2.gif

I think you agree with me that the perspective version of the game looks better and is less annoying to control.

I also added the music from the game on gamejolt: music.PNG

If you haven't tried my game yet, I'd really appreciate some feedback on it :D

Here is the link to gamejolt where you can try the new perspective mode of the game: https://gamejolt.com/games/avoider/301345

Certainly an unusual theme, but a good one in my opinion. I'm thinking about doing some combination using 2 or more of the following themes: - 4X - social simulation - real-time tactics - tower defense

I need to think about this some more, but I ought to be able to come up with something interesting soon enough :)

Progress update

Combining Age of Empires and Pacman?

Well, you get Age of Pacman of course

It's an attempt to combine the mechanics of Age of Empires with Pacman in a "reverse tower defense" type of game. Here is some footage of the game:

WebGL build?

I usually like to export my games to the web so more people are willing to play my game. However, I was not able to do that this time because the shader that generates the wireframe graphics uses geometry shaders which is supported by DX11 shader model 4.0 but that does not include WebGL 2.0. :frowning:

I tried to change to a grid texture but that didn't look nearly as good. I hope you understand and still give my game a chance. I will of course rate your game with as constructive feedback as I can.

If you like RTS games, please try Age of Pacman.

Shader model 3 now supported!

I used geometry shaders in my game to create the wireframe effect which worked great for PC which supports DX11 or Vulkan but not MacOS or WebGL. I had to resort to using GL.lines and the bloom render effect to port to MacOS and WebGL but that wasn't even near as easy as using geometry shaders.

Here is some footage from WebGL: ezgif.com-gif-maker.gif

It looks pretty good and close enough to desktop. If you don't feel like downloading the game or use MacOS please try my game, I'll make sure to check out yours.

Play Age of Pacman.

WORM.exe game mechanic done!

My game is about running out of space on your harddrive. You are fighting against a worm that spreads files on your desktop, you need to sort the files correctly to be able to free up space on your harddrive.

Note, red files are dangerous and if you don't remove them quickly, they will spread recursively out of control!

Try my game in your browser

I would really appreciate some feedback on the game mechanic for my game, click here to play!

Controls: - Use the mouse to point and click and drag each file to their correct folder! - Red files are worms and will generate more files around it.

Here is a screenshot of the game, note all the graphics are placeholders and there is no audio yet. ld42.png

worm.exe done and published!

Check it out here, it's a game about running out of space on your harddrive.

You can play it in your browser (no need to download worm.exe), try to gain as many points as possible and get your name on the leaderboard.

Playing games and worm.apk ready for Android!

Hello Ludum Darlings,

I tried my game on Android and it works pretty well, download worm.apk or play it on the web if you like. It's a simple game about sorting files and destroying malware (worms) that spreads on your desktop: thumbnail.png

Also playing your games (Web, Linux or Android)

As soon as I can, I would like to play and rate other games. If your game supports Web, Linux or Android I will check it out.

Reached 20 ratings on worm.exe

Thanks everyone for checking out and rating my game worm.exe, I will make sure to give a rating and constructive feedback when I have some time to spare

Check out my game here or watch the timelapse of me creating the game:

Prototype of an idea for a game

So, I've brainstormed for a while and decided the best thing for me to do would be to create a fast prototype to see if my game has any potential.

Feel free to try my game mechanic in your browser.

I would love to have some honest feedback on the idea. If it sucks then I still have time to change to idea.

Controls

  • ASWD or arrow keys to walk
  • Left or right click to punch

Objective

  • Kill enemies every wave
  • Choose which ability you must sacrifice

Screenshot of prototype

prototype2.png

Prototype of another game

Well, I'm still not satisfied with my game idea so I made another quick prototype of a game.

This idea is based on a Mantis trying to find a mate so he can be sacrificed by having its head bit off.

The gameplay is just a simple platformer, feel free to try it out in your browser

Which one is better, this silly idea or this one over here?

Controls

  • Use mouse and move left or right to move the mantis towards the holes in the platforms

Objective

  • Get to the bottom to find your mate

Screenshot of prototype

prototype3.png

First prototype with some gameplay

Well, yesterday wasn't very productive. I felt really uninspired. I created 3 different games that I wasn't happy with. However, I settled for the most silly one about a mantis who sacrifices other mantis heads (by eating them for mantis energy of course).

Some critical feedback would be much appreciated if you have some time to try the game in your browser.

No graphics or sound yet.

Controls

  • Move the mouse to the left or right of the viewport center to go that direction
  • Aim for the holes to fall down.

Objective

  • Don't run out of mantis energy by sacrificing other mantis heads by colliding with them.

Screenshot of the prototype

prototype2.png

Done and published!

Well, I started late and finished early. That's usually not the case for me but it has still been a lot of fun.

Here is my game if you want to try it.

Good luck to everyone still developing their games!

Help me find awesome games to play

Well, I finally have some time off during these last days of the year and I wan't to play a few of your cool entries.

If you have some time to spare in the next few days I would really appreciate your feedback on my game so I can get a score.

I will play your game if you leave a comment on this post or if you leave some feedback on my game.
