LD 44

Finally figured out how to cross-compile my game

After a day and a half I finally figured it out. If any Windows users were/are interested here's the game link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/the-healthy-gladiator THG_MAIN.png

Ludum Dare 45

35 minutes left

This'll be fun. My first non-terminal game. Done with VSCode, SFML, and TGUI in C

My Guess

I'm going to make a guess and say the theme will be Night Is Coming

Trick Or Retreat Windows Build is out!

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/trick-or-retreat

You are an alien that comes down to earth on Halloween to go trick-or-treating dressed as a ghost. But your arrival doesn’t go unseen! The military are sending in helicopters to capture and take you to area 51! Dodge their bullets while trying to collect as much candy as possible, and call in your trusty spaceship once you’re satisfied with your bounty

Linux build is out!

Trick or Retreat now has both a Windows and Linux build! I also fixed some bugs that caused the game to not work on some computers

Thanks everyone!

Trick Or Retreat (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/trick-or-retreat) has made it past the 20 ratings goal! Thanks everyone :tada:

A fellow competitor has yet to reach the goal. Please check out their game (It's pretty short and is made with Godot, so HTML5 :P) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/night-lights (IMO it's pretty good for a first game)

Looking for a quick HTML5 game to play?

A fellow competitor's game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/night-lights is 5 ratings below the 20 ratings limit. It's their first LD. It would be cool if they could manage to get it through

Help a fellow game dev

One of the people on the Ludum Dare Discord recently realized they had accidentally disabled a bunch of rating categories. So players weren't able to rate them. It also looks like they're below the rating requirement. Feel like helping them out? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/modumon-barebones-edition

My votes

My two votes for this final round are Garden and Outdated Technology. If you haven't voted for one of those please say why in a comment. I'd be interested to hear your opinion

My game is done!

Hope I didn't forget something. It was way too easy

Ludum Dare Discord

I see people posting links to Discords where people can chat. Also note the official (unofficial?) Ludum Dare Discord https://discord.gg/PehqKUk

Help out the games that don't have enough ratings yet!

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/games/danger/all

You can also post here if you don't have enough ratings, maybe the people reading this will check it out (I might if there is a WebGL/Linux build)

My ratings (finally)

Format of ratings: x/x: (ranking as seen on website)/(estimated total games rated 20+ (in category you submitted to)) x%: (position in ratings, percentage form, with 100% being 1st place and 0% being last)

Note that the rating percentage is only a rough guess. ┌───────────┬───────────────────────┬─────────────────┬─────────────────┬─────────────────┬─────────────────┬─────────────────┬─────────────────┬─────────────────┬─────────────────┐ │ LD │ Game │ Overall │ Fun │ Innovation │ Theme │ Graphics │ Audio │ Humor │ Mood │ ├───────────┼───────────────────────┼─────────────────┼─────────────────┼─────────────────┼─────────────────┼─────────────────┼─────────────────┼─────────────────┼─────────────────┤ │ 44, jam │ The Healthy Gladiator │ 914/1169 - 22% │ 931/1169 - 20% │ 701/1169 - 40% │ 720/1169 - 38% │ 956/1169 - 18% │ N/A │ N/A │ N/A │ │ 45, jam │ Trick or Retreat │ 910/1189 - 23% │ 545/1189 - 54% │ 916/1189 - 23% │ 1038/1189 - 12% │ 938/1189 - 21% │ N/A │ 325/1189 - 72% │ 798/1189 - 33% │ │ 46, compo │ Beware the Dark │ 802/1288 - 37% │ 601/1288 - 53% │ 610/1288 - 52% │ 980/1288 - 24% │ 715/1288 - 44% │ 295/1288 - 77% │ N/A │ 111/1288 - 91% │ │ 47, compo │ Pi's Great Escape │ 559/ 712 - 21% │ 498/ 712 - 30% │ 328/ 712 - 54% │ 499/ 712 - 30% │ 533/ 712 - 25% │ 416/ 712 - 41% │ 217/ 712 - 69% │ 525/ 712 - 26% │ │ 48, compo │ Backwards Quest │ 742/1079 - 31% │ 721/1079 - 33% │ 440/1079 - 59% │ 782/1079 - 27% │ 760/1079 - 29% │ 441/1079 - 59% │ 228/1079 - 79% │ 596/1079 - 45% │ └───────────┴───────────────────────┴─────────────────┴─────────────────┴─────────────────┴─────────────────┴─────────────────┴─────────────────┴─────────────────┴─────────────────┘ (Made with https://github.com/LoneWolfHT/ld-results-history)

I seem to have beat my previous records in Innovation and Humor, my game was still incomplete too so I'm happy.

I tried to make a post-jam version but my idea was a little too ambitious considering the base Godot helpers I have in place right now. I have other bigger projects I must spend time one

Next time I'll try to lower my sights and prepare more code that'll get all the things like scene-state-persistence, proper scene-independent-data, and etc out of the way

Thanks to everyone who rated my game! I didn't return one rating because it was Windows-only and didn't work with WINE, they had 20+ ratings already though so I don't feel too bad

Ludum Dare 49

I am in

Last jam before LD50, here's to hoping I can get better at putting together a complete game before then!

I'll be using Godot for gaem, Aseprite/Gimp for art, https://www.beepbox.co/ or LMMS for music, and coffee for awake (I'll try to keep a good sleep schedule but no guarantees)

Thanks to all who played my game!

I managed to play the games of everyone who left a comment, I was very low on time throughout this LD though, so I wasn't able to do much else.

I'm very happy with my game and ratings. I think I'll be able to put up a good show for LD50.
