LD 42

My first game jam :D

Well, to be fair, I tried to create a game for LD41, but I wasn't experienced enough so I failed. Hopefully this time is different! :D

It looks like a game (to me), now all I have to do is to add the gameplay :D

So what I'm trying to do is a typing game (where you destroy things by typing) that's a bit like Zuma, meaning that you will have to destroy the nearest objects (in my case crates) first. The thing in the middle is the turret, from where you will shoot bullets out of. And the red squares are the places where you don't want the boxes to reach.

Graphs of how I've spent my time during the Jam

Now note that this was my first jam (and second ever game published), so I can't say I've managed my time really that well :). I hope you will find it pretty interesting, though :D.

Also, in the timezone I am in, the jam started and ended at 1 AM (submission time until 2AM, theoretically, but we all know what happened).

By the way, the colors sadly don't match from one image to another, so you will have to look closely. This data was taken from RescueTime, a time-tracking software.

Day 1: As you can see I did not really code that much (Studio64 is the IDE), and I wasted some time on the web. DAY 1.png

Day 2: Instead of sleeping at night, I took some time and played SA-MP (San Andreas Multiplayer) with my friends (who were not in the jam). Also, I didn't really focus that much during the day, because as you can see it has a lot of Reddit and YouTube through it. DAY 2.png

Day 3: PANIC MODE. 100% focused during the day. So focused, actually, that I forgot to drink water. This didn't really end up well, since I got a pretty bad headache, but even then I didn't stop. DAY 3.png

Day 3.1: Still in panic mode. One interesting thing that you may notice is that between 1-2 AM (submission time ended at 2AM) I was still programming. This was due some pretty bad time planning (as you've seen in the previous images) and I still had pretty important things to do. Now, after 2AM I stopped working (besides fixes in the following days), because I did not want to cheat, even though the game was not feature complete (if there is such a thing). However, it was playable, and this is what matters. DAY 3.1.png

And here is the end result. I am actually very happy with how the game turned out, despite a lot of poor planning :). I'd appreciate if you would give some feedback on it. I have enough ratings (>40), but more feedback can't ever hurt :D. 195d8.png

LD 43

My second Ludum Dare :D

I even got allowed to skip classes on Monday for this (which is always a great thing) .
Well, with this comes a bit of pressure, but I am not complaining since I have 3 entire days to work on my game, and I know many don't.

I kinda got an idea :D

This is gonna be so cool if I manage to implement it :)
