We Are In!

My buddy and I are jumping into our first jam.

We will be using:

C++ and SFML

Codeblocks

Aseprite

Audacity and Pixitracker

SFXR and BFXR

Excited for my first jam, good luck everyone!

Update 1

So we have some stuff going now. We have a rock and it can be thrown around and some pseudo map generation is 50% done. Day and night cycles are also completed. This is our pitch:

“You are a person thrown into a crazy world with nothing but a vegetation growing rock, the world is a scary place with puzzles that lead you astray and scary enemies against you, but you must conquer the world of Vita. Using pseudo random generation, the player embarks on a journey to face the unpredictable world, Vita.”Selection_001

End of Day 1

So we made some progress on Project Vita (name pending). The character is going around a lot of things are being implemented. Pressure plates and doors, random level generation, pathfinding, etc. We are far from done, but we are not losing heart yet! Now it is time to rest.

The rock is on the pressure plate and the door to the right opens.

Update 3

Well the second day is under way. Working hard to get this done. Another skill was implemented and key and door was implemented as well.

End of Day 2

Well it looked bleak at first. But I can see the end. Music, sound effects, levels, everything is done except for a few minor bug fixes. Looks like we will be finished up by the end of the Jam.

Troubles with Porting: stoi

So apparently std::stoi doesn’t work on windows mingw compiler… Anyway Linux version is up while I try and sort this out… If anyone has a workaround I would really appreciate it if you could let me know!

Port to Windows

So it is FAR from perfect, but I figured better to let the windows have a chance to play. If it is completely unplayable I will fix it further just leave a comment.

I am in.

Second LD and I am pumped. Last time I competed with my friend in the jam. This time it’ll be on my own for the compo.

Here are the tools I will most likely be using to create the game:
Language: Java/html5/javascript/c++: have not decided yet

– Editor: Eclipse/sublime text.

– Libraries: If I use C++, I will be using this engine I created using SFML https://github.com/Ludusamo/SFML-CodeBase

– Art: GIMP and Aseprite

– Sound and music: Sfxr, Bfxr, Wolfram Tones, Pixitracker

LETS GO!

UPDATE

I have decided that I will use HTML5 with the Phaser library. I chose this because I had trouble with exporting to Windows in my last Ludum Dare. So hopefully HTML5 will assist me with that issue.

Excited to see what the theme will be but this time I feel more confident and I am ready to go!

I like this theme.

So far having a lot of fun brainstorming for this one. Things are flowing out pretty easily and they all (seem) doable.

So lets see how this goes.

Got my Idea.

Alright got all my ideas down and things are ready to start production.

Going to grab a good night’s sleep and wake up bright and early READY TO GO!

Goodnight!

Progress.

Things are slowly making progress. Struggling learning phaser while trying to make a game at the same time, but its a fun challenge and I think I can do something pretty good with this.

Next time I check in I will add in some pictures.

Progress Report

Progress has been slow. Had to cut some corners but I definitely think my idea is still doable.

Added in NPC’s.

End of Day 1

So things are slowly getting there which is exciting.

I was afraid throughout the day that I may not be able to finish, but I am feeling more confident now.

We will see what happens tomorrow though. For now good night all.

FINISHED

Reached the finish line.

Cut a lot of corners and nothing like I originally envisioned but THATS OK!

Its finished and I am pretty happy. Going to upload now and a YouTube video of a timelapse will be up in a day or two.

Its been fun and I look forward to the next one.

I’m In!

In for the first time in a while. Will be looking to use either Unity or Pico-8.

If I use Unity, the following programs will also be used:

BFXR, PixiTracker, and Piskel
