Deskshot #294879386

Deskshots seem to be popular, so heres mine.

PCGear

Hopefully I’ll have some time left to use my audiogear as well:

AudioGear

I reached the point…

the point where my mind started thinking about finishing the game instead of giving up.

I got my mini-games finished and somehow polished. Now working on the actual game.

No Gameshots available, but hey atleast I got some foodshots for you.

Sauce on bread… you MUST have been pressured!

Hacking 4 Dummies gone gold

yep, I finally managed to finish my game.

I had a hard time running out of beer, cigarettes and finally food. I dunno if I got the theme right.

Hacking computers to use them as a weapon against other computers. kinda cheap 😛

Anyways, here’s my kid in all it’s beauty:

Now that I’m finished…

GARBAGE-SHOTS!

GarbageShot

Well, don’t mind me posting crap.

Good luck to everyone still working hard on their awesome game.

You can and WILL do it.

This game wins!

The Mastermind clone (enter 4/5-digit security code) needs some thinking, but i’ve found a nice way to do it quickly and nicely (with fast typing).

Hacking4Dummies patched

A patched version is now available. (only minor bugfixes/crash issues updated).
you can get the updated binary and source here:

http://pixelsiege.net/Hacking4DummiesPatched.zip
http://pixelsiege.net/Hacking4DummiesPatched_Src.zip

Please note that your vote has to be based on the unpatched compo-binary.

LD19

Lets do this.

Hey guys. I’m joining as well. No deskshot this time (maybe later, but my desk didn’t change that much).
I’ll be using the same setup as last LD:

code: Visual Studio (C#)
gfx: Paint.Net & GraphicsGale,
sfx: Live 8, Wavosaur maybe sfxr for placeholders

I haven’t decided yet if I’ll start from scratch or use my basecode (pewWorks).

Looking forward to all the submissions. have fun everyone and cya later.

Deskshots already?

Is it that time already?

Didn’t really change since LD18 but I think it would be rude not to take a new picture.

(Hello FlashWorld! || hey you, stop lurking…)

Finally, I managed to get myself to try developing Flash-games (instead of Winforms/GDI+/DHTML).

The result:

24hrs after installing FlashDevelop

http://pixelsiege.net/beta/small

http://pixelsiege.net/beta/big

I didn’t even think about starting the code from scratch so I googled up some frameworks, looked at some sources and made my decision.

At first I was going to try flixel, but since the download didn’t work (is it fixed yet?) I tried Flashpunk instead. (I didn’t really care what framework to use, so FP was ok as well)

After about 24 hours (to my surprise) my first flashgame was done. All assets (excl. the robot (which I’m seeking a name for btw.)) was done during those 24hrs. I still can’t believe how easy and fast the development went (after getting used to flash and flashpunk).

I’m not making any point, right?

The point is: If I can do it, you can do it as well.

So if you were lurking LD until now:

stop lurking, start making games.

It might be easier than you think :)

Now thy Folis shall stop thy lurking, follow thou advice to stop lurking and shall look at thy Flashpunk once more..

LD20

Hey kids, what time is it?

LD20’s coming up and once again I’ll do my part.
Tell your friends so we can beat both the contestant-count as well as the finished-games record.

I for my part will be using Flashpunk for the code,
Ableton Live and/or OpenMPT for the Music,
Wavosaur and bfxr for Sounds
and Paint.Net + GraphicsGale for (you might have guessed it) graphics.
I might be using some prepeared AS3-classes for Networking. Depending on the game/theme and if I’m able to finish them before LD20 starts.

You’re in Vienna, aren’t you? I’m in for LD20, my first, and I’ll be working from metalab most of the time. Join me if you need some company while developing your game.

LD21

I’m in, well kinda

Not sure if I will participate as I only got my netbook for the weekend and some events to attend.

I will use Flashpunk, Paint.Net, GraphicsGale, Bsfxr/Sfxr, and SunVox or ModPlugTracker for music.

Good luck, have fun and cya on the weekend.

LD22

Hurry up! It’s not too late to join the LD48

Yep, I’m in. This time I’ll try to use the following setup:

Code: Java and libGDX (uses LWJGL)

Graphics: Paint.Net, GraphicsGale and Inkscape

SoundFX: bfxr/sfxr or my mic if I need some fancy sounds.

Music: Sunvox or Ableton

We’ll meet in IRC, if you happen to be there.

LD23

I’m in.

Tools of choice:

  • Java using libgdx
  • Ableton Live, sfxr/Wavosaur, SunVox
  • GraphicsGale, Paint.Net, MyPaint and PaintTool SAI

See you at the Dare

LD24

I’m in

Keeping it short:

1) Joining LudumDare #24 (compo)
2) Using libGDX (Java), Ableton Live, Paint.Net/MyPaint, Milkshape 3d, Pixexix, Wavosaur
3) ???
4) Profit

Cya at the compo.

Will be hosting the Dropout-Party on irc if anyone wants to attend 😀 (#lddropouts)

LibGDX ? Isn’t that an Android library ?

LD25

Please, gamedev-gods, let me do this

I’m in, atleast I’d love to do the compo, but there are some things coming up this weekend so I might be tempted to drop out.

I would use my default toolset containing:

  • Java + LibGdx (Code)
  • Ableton Live (Music)
  • Sketchbook / Graphics Gale (Graphics)
  • Pixexix + Milkshape (3D)
  • Wavosaur (Sound)

See you at the competition, madpew

Ah, if I managed to make a quick game on 1/2 of a Sunday, so can you!

Go with Austrian power 😉

regarding the Sourcecode requirement.

This post is just a collection of snippets copied from the “Rules and Guidelines”-Section of Ludum Dare ( http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/rules/ ) which all of the participants should have read:

4. All publicly available libraries and middleware are allowed.

6. Source code must be included.

This does not mean open source, just included source.  You retain all rights to it.  If you do not wish to provide source, consider entering the Jam instead.

Base code and personal code libraries are allowed, but should be declared and shared with the community prior to beginning your entry. To do this, make a blog post.

I dislike the base code rule. There’s nothing to stop people from basically writting their entire entry before hand and modifying it / adding graphics once the competition starts. I still insist Ludum Dare is far too lax and far too easy.
20. Dec 2012 · 08:14 UTC
But using basecode is pretty much the same as using any kind of framework or tools like Unity. I usually use basecode too, which consists of classes like a tile engine that i wrote for previous ludum dare entries just to save me from having to type in the exact same class again if i need it. Writing the whole game beforehand is hardly possible because you usually don’t know what game you want to do until the compo starts.
20. Dec 2012 · 09:58 UTC
Even if you forbid base code, you can cheat by using it anyway.

If someone is prepared to write a complete game beforehand, that person is probably going to cheat anyway by still using base code even when not allowed :)

Before I became part of this community I had organised game jams on some other websites. The one discussion which never seemed to end was where to draw the line with regards to language/base code/frameworks/engines/ etc

LD26

I’m in again

Trying to get a serious entry done this time (depending on the theme).

I might be using Java with libgdx, Wavosaur, Ableton, Sketchbook, Milkshape, Pixexix, SunVox, Paint.Net, GtkRadiant, Graphics Gale.

If I can’t get something serious together I might be doing something for my VIC-20 (using cc65)  or my Genesis (using SGDK)

PS: Please get a fresh fun-theme next time, potato-jokes are outdated.

LD28

Declaration of Intent

Again, I will try to come up with something for this LD. I’ll take part in the compo using:

Code: Java + libgdx

2d/3d: Paint.net, Pixexix, Sketchbook Pro, Milkshape 3d, Spine, Radiant

Sound: Wavosaur, Ableton Live

Misc: git (github)

If I decide to use a basecode it will be available as such on my github.

If I can’t come up with an idea I’m still up for the jam (if anyone’s intersted)

Speciality: Audio-guy (can do code, pixelart and maps as well)

Timezone: Europe, GMT+1

Country: Austria
