Ready to start my game: CELLVENTURE

Now that I know my goals, I can start coding seriously. The game, CELLVENTURE will be a 2D adventure game, where you have to evolve a cell in order to survive. It can also be associated with an 2D SPORE, but without the freedom to make your own custom cell.

I currently have 7 diferent species, but I am planning more in the game. There are two major branches, one where you cell is like a snake and one that looks like an octopus that will shrink its tentacles and become a bipedal creature.

The majority of the in-game time will be spent in some sort of liquid. I think that will some sort of goo made in a laboratory that grows by drinking water from lakes.

I am quite in a bad mood when I think of time, because I have a lot of homework.

If I will have enough time, I think I will implement multiplayer too.

Oh my! Only 10 hours left!!!

Just checked and I saw that I was wrong: I thought it will be a day later, not tomorrow. *Installing all tools* *downlaoding…* *reading tutorials* *making an game idea for every theme in the list* I think I don’t even have time!!!

We’re all gonna die…

Got the idea

I’m now ready to start prototyping the game. The idea is that you had a bowl with golden spaghetti, which you call golden shpaghetti. Someone steals the bowl from you and promises he will return it  to you only if you complete his puzzles. After you complete his puzzles with some diabolic controls, YOU ONLY GET ONE golden shpaghetti.

Finally finished the animation system and now I only have to make some new classes for the levels, add some physics, the menu and KABAM: my game is ready

5 HOURS FOR A TYPO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wasted 5 hours of the contest by working out what have i done wrong:

a “<<4” instead of a “<<3” now, the second snapshot:

Im in!!!

I’m soooo in. Hope this will be better than last time, where I had a hecka lot of homework :)

I’m using:

  • C++ SDL2 – programming
  • GIMP/PAIN.NET – graphics
  • SFXR – sound effects
  • I think i’ll use FamiTracker if i have time to add music. I’m not that sure that the game will have it because… you know… i’m absolutely HORRIBLE at making music :)

I’m making an online multiplayer programming game where you try to hack your opponent’s computer to execute the DAT command, which makes you win the game.

I think I’m in, but i might not have enough time because of homework and other stuff.

If i join I’ll probably use one of these for the code/engine:

  • C++ w/ SFML
  • Unity
  • HTML5
  • Java
  • Python

, but it won’t probably be Java or Python since i haven’t worked with them in the last 5 months.

For the graphics I’m using Gimp or Paint.NET

Should i…?

I have theese 2 ideas:

  • a game in which the screen (made of glass) is broken and recycled every time the gamestate/scene changes
  • a zombie apocalypse in which zombies just repeteadly come towards you and you’re bound to the screen?

Which should i use?
