LD31

I’m in, first time.

Greetings!

I’ve been calling my “studio” Red Rib Games, but it’s nothing official. I wanted to participate in LD30, but missed it. So here I am for LD31! I’ll be entering the Jam for my first attempt, and I’ll try to get my brother to team up with me.

Tools:

  • Clickteam’s Fusion 2.5 + Lua plugin + Surface Object
  • Custom graphics tool, (still unfinished.)
  • Notepad++
  • jfxr for sound.
  • LMMS for music.

GLHF!

LD35

I’m in.

I’ll be doing the 72 hour jam, and this time my brother will join me.

We’ll be using the Love2D/LÖVE framework, so the result will be playable on more platforms than last time.

Tools:

  • Notepad++ for Lua coding
  • Aseprite for art
  • SFXR and/or Audacity for sounds
  • BeepBox or LMMS for music
  • Possibly some hastily made custom tools for map editing and animation sequences

I’m happy to have at least somewhat recovered from a long period of poor motivation. Feels good to be able to do something productive again. Now, here’s hoping my cat will let me sleep properly during the jam! Probably not.

Awesome set, have a nice weekend!

LD36

I’m in.

This will be the fourth time, although I only managed to submit an entry on my first ever LD. Something I learned from my failure last time would probably be to keep sugar intake to a minimum. You get tired quickly after the sugar rush. 😉

I’ll be entering the JAM, most likely using these tools:

  • Love2D
  • Notepad++
  • Aseprite
  • OpenMPT + JuceOPL VST Plugin
  • BeepBox
  • JFXR
  • Git

I’m going to try out Git for this, as I’ve never used anything similar before, and I’d like to learn. BeepBox will be for prototyping music, but I might fall back to it, or LMMS, if OpenMPT turns out to be too difficult or slow.

Have fun. 😀

Ludum Dare 46

Lack Of Time

So! It looks like I might not have enough free time to play and rate enough games to get my own game to 20 ratings. I will do my best to rate more games in the time remaining, still.

But to be on the safe side, I will drop my game right here. (I only need about 5 ratings.)

Me And My Horse

I'm really happy how things turned out this LD, and I'm even considering making a re-imagined full game out of this concept, with better... everything! Like a small, short and sweet Metroidvania. Different story. Better mechanics. Better art-style. Feels like a perfect project for where I'm currently at in life. We shall see!

Wow!

I forgot to check the results for a few days, and now I come back to find my entry in 10th place for Humor! I remember being happy about a category top 100 for my first ever Ludum Dare. Sadly that entry is no longer present on the new site though. Big thanks to everyone who rated and commented!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I've been considering rebuilding Me And My Horse into a full game, using Godot perhaps, but I'm also interested in trying to build my own engine for learning reasons.

Since this was made rather sloppily to meet the time constraint, I chose to implement features as simply as possible. I imagine a Yoshi's Island style throwing mechanic would have worked better, for example! And someone mentioned wanting to ride the horse, which I would definitely add. (In the most humorous way possible, of course.) And I have several ideas for more mechanics, powerups, and story. Also much better art. The current man and horse were pretty much slightly touched up, quickly drawn placeholder graphics, as you can imagine.

I'm busy with my personal life currently, and the project would be on my free time over a long period no doubt, contesting with other more important projects. I'll definitely make a post here if or whenever I get started and have something to show! Or if anyone wants to keep an eye on my twitter (same username), but it's pretty dead at the moment.
