A Challenger Appears!

Yo, mappel6 with DragonElf Games, a (very) small indie game company that’s really more of a pastime and composed of approximately 3 people, will be entering the Ludum Dare 25 competition. That would be me. Anyways, as a formality, I’ll be listing my tools here:

~DarkBASIC Professional (Coding)

~Paint.NET and Microsoft Paint (Graphics)

~Dr. Petter’s sfxr (Sound Effects)

Also, if I am allowed, I will use music from two libraries:
~SoundCloud

~This person’s Noteflight, upon recieving permission just in case: http://www.noteflight.com/members/3cdf5af389c28796ae61d857cc18cfac43371a28

Again, this is only if I am confirmed to be able to use these, and if I can’t, I’ll get a VST from http://www.vstplanet.com/index.htm upon the occasion that I have time to make music for my game. I ask that the admins give a ruling upon this, I saw that we were able to use things like SoundCloud but I don’t know where that was and if it was only for the Jam, etc.

Now, about streaming to twitch.tv, I will not be streaming this year. Depend on how my game is received in the community, I will start next year. Good luck to all of you guys, and if I’m not taken up by sleep and school, I will try to judge.

LD34

3 years later…

Three years ago, I said that I absolutely WOULD be taking part in the Ludum Dare 25 Game Jam. But, I did not. I forgot exactly what happened. But in the end, I could not take part.

Let’s change that.

I will start small–I will take part in the Jam, and I will only be using one thing.

–RPG Maker MV

I know, it’s strange, it’s cliche, but RPGs are what I know best, and RPG Maker is what I’m most experienced at. So, for Ludum Dare 34, I will be using RPG Maker MV and all of the tools, libraries, and assets that that entails.

Of course, I will be opting out of the Graphics and Sounds categories, because just about none of them will be my own. Except, perhaps, a few characters I may have generated for the jam.

I will be streaming, too. I’ll post a link to my Twitch account shortly before the jam begins–if anybody’s interested in knowing my story, they can see it from there.

Let’s have some fun, shall we?

LETS HAVE SOMEEE FUUUN 😀

LD34: Day 1

Day one is finished. Didn’t get much done, but I did get a lot of stuff laid out and set up.

Looking forward to some heavy progress tomorrow. I still feel as if I can do this.

LD34: Day 2

Got quite a bit done, today. I made skeletons (basics, just graphic and stats) for all of the enemies, and set up just about all of the skills of the characters and the enemies. As well as that, I also got all of the weapons and armors that the characters can use set up, and even made a couple of animations for two of the skills that needed them.

I just need my map, and to set up the actual battles, now. It’s an arena game, so it will be very simple to set up. Balancing is not a primary issue right now, but if I do have excess time when I’m officially done, I’ll do it.

RPGs are quite viable to make in a 72 hour time period–especially if they’re simple. That’s one thing I’ve learned this Ludum Dare. To keep my scope as simple as I can, especially this early in game development.

EDIT: This was supposed to be posted yesterday.

How it ended up avoiding being posted, I have no clue.
