This was my first time doing the compo and I'm proud of the game came out. I had to cram a lot in on the final day, but I got most of the features I originally spec'd out. Most fun part: animation. Hardest part: music.
Presenting...
The only game where you can talk about the weather with two raccoons.

You can check it out on itch.io here: https://mike-salyh.itch.io/ordinary-human-conversation Hope everyone else had good jams too! I'm looking forward to playing all the games!
No battle plan survives contact with the enemy, but I like to block out an "ideal schedule" before starting a jam. It helps keep my expectations realistic (and remind me to eat & sleep).
Who else is excited to get started?
That was a hell of a weekend! After 48 hours of jammin', allow me to introduce... Ants, Inc!
My game features 12 unique ant workers, each with their own animation loop. It's been a while since I've done any 2D animation, so making these characters was a lot of fun. Here's a preview of 3 of them:

You can unlock all 12 ants by playings Ants Inc. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/ants-inc.

Six Shots Per Minute Man!
This was a new type of game for me, since I've never made a top-down shooter before. Most of the first day ended up being spent getting the bullets to shoot straight. But once that was working, I could spend the second day on enemy AI and art. That's where it really came together!
I'm a big fan of my 10 second long reload animation. It's so stupid, but satisfying. Really, this whole project was an excuse to make a silly reload animation.

This was also my first time trying to make sound effects. I recorded a metal water bottle as my "musket", and then pixelated the sounds thru a retro filter. Same deal with the voice over (without the water bottle, of course).

Hope everybody else had a good compo! Tally ho, lads!
