Ludum Dare 37

I’m in

This will be my first Ludum Dare.

I’ll most likely be programming in either TypeScript or Java with libGDX.
As for the tools I’ll be using:

  • Eclipse, Atom; for writing code and other text files
  • Tiled; for designing maps (assuming I choose to make a 2D game)
  • Gimp, InkScape; for 2D graphics
  • Blender; for 3D graphics (if I end up making a 3D game)
  • Sfxr/Bfxr, Audacity, Famitracker, Audiotool, LMMS; for sound effects and music
  • Bitbucket or Github; for storing source files
  • Itch.io; for hosting the final game

Time to make some awesome games; good luck and happy game making to everyone!

First sign of progress

I originally planned to use Java and libGDX, but after Eclipse froze (roughly 2 hours into development), I switched to TypeScript. Here’s a screenshot of what I’ve got so far:

My interpretation of the theme is to have one central room that is connecting the rest of the rooms.
I plan on making it so that the player has to  return to this room as much as possible, to make any progress — we’ll see how it turns out.

Wish me luck; and good luck to all of you, too!

Room X(mas)

I’ve decided the title for my game is going to be something along the lines of “Room X(mas)”. Not sure if I’m actually going to be able to finish my game in time (chose to discard most of what I had and start over).

Anyways, here’s a quick image I’ve put together using some of the sprites from my game; hope you like it.

Santa, ready for take-off.

Merry soon-to-be Christmas everyone!

Game won’t be finished in time.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I simply won’t be able to get my game to a sufficiently fun and enjoyable state in time for the combo. Therefore, I’ve decided to halt development for now; maybe I’ll be able to finish it by the end of the jam, but given my tight schedule tomorrow, I doubt it.

Nonetheless, LD37 — as my first Ludum Dare ever — has been a great experience, and I’ll definitely try to be able to participate again next time!

LD 42

I'm in!

This will be my second attempt at Ludum Dare. Last time I spend too much time switching between different programming languages and engines, to actually finish anything. So, this time I'll try to stick to the following:

  • Framework: löve/love2d
  • Languages: Lua, GLSL, (C++)
  • Code Editor: Atom
  • Graphics Editor: Gimp, Inkscape
  • Sound Effects: Audacity, BFXR
  • Music Tools: LLMS, FamiTracker

I'm In...

... assuming I can come up with something interesting based on the theme

Ludum Dare 47

I'm In

Off to a late start, but I guess better late than never... Somehow I'd managed to completely miss the fact that LD was this weekend. Anyways, I intend to use Unity this time around: I've used it before, but never in a game jam; so we'll see how that pans out. Good luck everyone, and remember to have fun
