Hi guys.

I don’t know yet if I’m going to do this. But I wanted to share first just in case.

I’m planning on using the tools I know the best, so, C++ (Visual Studio 2013) with OpenGL, SDL, glfw, glm, glew, stb image, stb truetype, assimp, etc. And I might throw in code that’s on my github or from old crap I did.

https://github.com/msklywenn

http://lywenn.eu.org/bazar/glcrap.zip (will not compile and run directly, I removed a lot of files to make the archive smaller like above mentioned libs and crytek’s sponza scene, etc)

Something I’d like to try, if I do this, is move away from usual object oriented programming and go more C-like. Maybe try an half-ass entity-component system, I don’t know.

Even if I don’t like it, I guess I’ll be using the STL. I still didn’t find a free replacement I like and still didn’t properly do one myself.

Oh, and I might use

– processing for rapid prototyping

– photoshop, blender & pbrush for graphics

– renoise, audacity & samples from freesounds for audio

– fonts from google fonts…

Okay, let’s actually do this time. I’ll use unity, blender, krita, audacity and I’m not sure yet for music. Any suggestion for non chiptune stuff ?

Game design and surprises

I put my alarm clock at 3am and got the theme. Oh, cool, I voted for that one ! My weapon will be toilet paper ! Then I went to sleep.

When I awake I started thinking that it would be cool to have the roll be desintegrated by water, but then you could make little balls of paper mâché and you get stronger, etc. And you’d play a mummy awakening in a museum. That would be fun ! But I didn’t like the nature of the game : one more platformer where you kill everyone.

So I started thinking about non lethal weapons. And it hit me: hugs! A hotline Miami like game where you infiltrate the house to hug the bad guys without being shot first. THAT would be really cool and fluffy.

And then I started my computer. And it didn’t boot. I guess that’s it for my first ld.

Didn't boot.

Didn’t boot.
