Starting my first game for ludum dare, I’m in it!

Hi to all members,

This will be my first ludum dare entry ever. I thought it would be a good idea to start of with a mini challenge.

I some years of experience in java and 3d gaming, there for I can’t wait to get started.

I thought hard and long about the theme and honestly this is not easy…, but I think I have a good idea in mind.

Only started a bit late after a long day at work.

About the development process:

  1. 3D Engine, I will be using my old faithful, jMonkeyEngine3.0.
  2. For the models I will be using Blender3D.
  3. Graphics and painting I will be using Gimp(I am a novice user here).
  4. Sounds I will be using,…mmm, don’t really know yet.
  5. Because this is my first attempt I will be making use of some free resources.

Well, that is it for now, GOOD LUCK to all contenders…

Enjoy

Cups and Ball finished, MiniLD48 Entry

I have finally completed my game for the Mini LD 48.
This was very exiting and challenging at the same time.

The game is a version of the age old table trick street game, Cups and Ball. In this game the player must follow the ball hidden under one of 3 cups. After a few shuffles the player must pick which cup contains the ball.

Don’t let your eyes deceit you under the facade of cups.

Please download here.

NB: This is a Java game so please make sure you have a JRE installed.
Enjoy!

Hi there,

This was my first Mini LD entry and I am now confused.

How do we actually vote for someone’s game? Is voting open yet for MiniLD48?

Please advise?

“Electron”, fastest game ever!

Hi to all,

I finally finished this little game I did for Mini Ludum Dare #49.

This is by far the fastest and quickest game I ever wrote. It is also the most polished game I did for this short time.

Bare in mind I only started yesterday afternoon with the game play. I was on holiday this weekend and had only +-8 hours to do it.

Please have a look and enjoy.

PS: The Score Board is not working currently but one’s high score is saved.

Download the game here and comment on it: Electron download

Electron, better controls & power ups

I have polished of my game for MiniLD #49 just a little bit more.
One has the ability to pickup powers such as SlowMo power. This power will be very helpful later on
when the game is getting to difficult.

Also, I have created a video for those who don’t want to play it.
PS: You are really missing out.

Sitting here looking at my laptop, what to do… what to do

I am sitting here, it is early morning in the south of Africa.
I want to start with this amazing compo but I have not idea of what I want to do
for the theme “Connected Worlds”……

Man, I am lost today, my mind is not setup yet!

So I am writing this post to inform all contestants GOOD LUCK and enjoy.

Farm Invaders: My Jam Entry

Hi guys,

I would like to share with you a funny story and then at the same time my game entry to the ludum dare 30.

First of I had one heck of a busy weekend and not coding wise, NO personal stuff.
At first on Friday I thought, YEAH ludum dare compo, man I cannot wait. This is going to be fun….
Then the long awaited Saturday morning arrived and what do you know, the them “Connected Worlds” was chosen.
Man, I was afraid of that theme, I do not know why but I had no idea what to do for a game.

The whole of Saturday and Sunday passed and the 48 hour compo was done.
Well I gave up on the compo and decided maybe next time.
.
.
.

And then, I can’t explain why but for some reason I got an idea Monday afternoon and thought, BUT wait, maybe I must give it another try and enter the 72 hour Jam compo.
So, I started with my idea of a game…

It is called, “Farm Invaders” and I finally finished it to a point of entry 10 minutes before cut off time.. Showweee…
So I coded with no stop until 4 AM this morning, just enough time to have 2 hours of sleep before WORK and here I am.

The basic idea of the game is that you the player are a farmer and must defend your farm from and alien invasion.
There are these portals (Connection to other worlds) that opens up and aliens passes through.
You have to kill as many of them as possible.

Late but not last (BitPong)

Hi to all,

I have been late with this announcement but I had to try and do something.

Last night I decided to enter this Mini LD #58 when a simple idea for the Ping Pong challenged came to mind.

So I have started with a ping pong idea where you as player have to control the ball and not the paddle.

There is gravity involved and you have to bounce by tapping the screen from the one paddle to the other.

I am planning on making the look of the game the popular flat UI look and colors.

It will be a one touch game and will also be available on Android.

On android I will integrate the google play services so that players can see there high score.

Here’s a screenshot of my progress:
