LD24

Late start is late

Well, now that quite a part of the compo-people go to bed I have finally awoken. Evolution, eh?

I’ll be making a choose-your-evolution game with some random events and a time limit until the big bad aliens come to evaporate you if you didn’t evolve well enough to their liking. Hopefully I’ll be able to put in a lot of events to make the player giggle like a little schoolgirl. If I don’t fail miserably due to this being my first ever compo and me having important business to attend to on monday. Curse you, timezones!

Tools I’ll be using? Flashpunk with FlashDevelop, and paint.

Anyway, good luck everyone!

Graphical part done(ish)

Time to work on the actual gameplay. Which is way more important but I needed time to think of things anyway, so I did the ‘boring’ part in the meantime.

The cube-planet rotates with 46 frames of rotation for a really nice old school cube look (like here http://youtu.be/LCAMdOlZVV0?t=5m38s), and the stars move parralax-ish for a nice feel of the planet rotating around you.

Dawn of the Final Day

Or at least, 24 hours remain. And 51 minutes, I guess, but let me have fun with a reference already Mind. It is 2 AM right now over here, so I go to sleep. Sadly, most of what I did since my last screenshot is invisible back-end stuff, some moving things around and showing a few variables on places where they might look good.

Anyway, have a screenshot:
Shiny?

Good Night, and/or Good luck to all of you!

Finished-ish!

Well, actually pretty much not finished. Have most of the gameplay done, but no content to show it >.>

Anyhow, I need to be stopping now, Going to an introduction camp for College tomorrow. They’re going to make me a real boy turn me into a decent programmer if all goes well. Yay! 😀

Anyhow, can’t really write a post-mortem right now, that might actually take until after the post-compo update is done. Yeah, I like the game enough to finish it regardless of ability to win anything honor with it. I really think it could be fun.

Good Night and/or Luck to all other contestants!

(Here’s my game BTW)

Ludum Dare 37

I’m late, but (probably) in.

I was informed LD was this weekend way too late, was already in lazy weekend mode. To stay lazy and save some time, I’m just making something simple but hopefully fun with Game Maker.

LD 38

I'm in!

Time to get 3 hours of sleep until it starts.

Lopsided priorities?

softbody-planet.gif Spending two days working on a softbody planet and collisions with said planet may not be the best way to spend your LD time. At least I have been working out the gameplay on paper in the meantime. Time for a few hours of sleep.

Managed to publish, woo!

Despite the site being seemingly DDOS'd to hell and back by the traffic everything went smoothly.

I managed to turn my graphicless non-game into a very simple idle game with cutesy programmer graphics in under a day, since I had no ideas for the gameplay until halfway through day 3. But hey, I managed to finish something. And that marks my first time completing a Ludum Dare jam, always failed until now.

Hope someone out there manages to have at least a bit of fun with it, or at least can appreciate how it looks. Thank you for your time.

Surprise

Just found out LD was even going to happen, so although I missed out on almost the first two hours, I think I'll join with a relatively simple and quick idea I just had. I think I'll be working with JS + HTML5, although it wouldn't be the first time I change my mind about what I use to make a jam game halfway through.

I'm in post #9065

I'm joining as well. I'll be trying to get something done in time for the compo, but going overtime and doing the jam instead won't be too much of a shame. I can't make music to save my life, so might make a jam version regardless with some free-to-use music. If I even manage to get a game together this time that is, my past track record isn't great.

Tools this time: * ct.js as engine (trying it out for the first time) * bfxr for bleeps and bloops * krita for art * coffee for moral support

And if everything goes right, I should also have a timelapse at the end. I'm just running a custom bash script that runs scrot every so often, much like the old script posted here years ago.
