The jam is always a great opportunity to grow as a game dev, so I set myself some additional goals this time: 1. Get out of your comfort zone! 2. Make something weird! 3. Use an uncommon setting! (see #1 & #2) 4. Create something unsellable! (see all of the above)
As always, I'll record a lot of video footage of how I fare. Good luck, everyone!
…on my other channel. Hope to play some more soon! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DmR4rQzW7o
This is part 2 of me playing some of your games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQCQ5LjoLgg
Thank you all for submitting your games and watching! But before you post some more links in the comments, be aware that I won't make a part 3  This little series was just intended to be a quick one-off, but in the end, it became quite a project in its own right.
Gotta go, I have a documentary to finish!
Yes, that's right: The one from LD38 was still in the works because it was so much longer than usual, but I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

Hope you enjoy!
I made this shortly before LD 38 but I think it's still relevant and hopefully useful if you're new to jamming :)

Hello jammers old and new! Just in time before LD40 I managed to finish my LD39 documentary:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uMQXdjRvls
I couldn't participate in LD40 but noone's stopping me from playing some LD40 games! :) https://youtu.be/Hh-8vviv5_g
Here's part 2 of 3 of playing some LD games and the feedback I have upon first playing your games. Since I already recorded part 3 (it will go live before Christmas), I can't play any new submissions. Still I hope it's insightful to the games that I managed to cover: https://youtu.be/BgkQxnrr8sU
Here's the final part of my Ludum Dare #40 Let's Plays. Enjoy your holidays, jammers. You did good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoYb4Qywy04
Oh right! Amidst all the craziness around me, I almost forgot to officially announce my participation! So here we go.
I already hate the themes, so this is gonna be … fun. Nevertheless, have a great jam, everyone! Woohoo! 🙌
As you all know, participating in the compo also means to share your source code. Whenever I am curious about a certain game and take a look at their code, more often than not I have a hard time understanding what's going on and why, and if something is just a hack for lack of time or a clever implementation I just don't understand.
That's why I thought I make a litte (well) video about my explaining my source code of my LD41 game, "Zoccer", and walk you through line by line:

A link to a Windows build and the Game Maker project of the game can all be found on its Compo page.
Hello, LD jammers! I'll be recording another couple of "Phil Plays" videos for my YouTube channel soon. If you want your game in the mix, please submit it via this form:

Thanks!
As always, I take a lot of time out of my busy schedule to play and feedback some LD43 games. Here are the first parts. be sure to subscribe to the channel if you want notifications about it the next time, as I won't be accepting any new submissions for LD43.

Just wanted to congratulate each and every one of you who managed to make something in time. You rock! And if you're among the jammers crunching for another 22 hours: You got this! Make it great!
Hey jammers! You might know that I am running a second YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/c/phil-motionvideo ) where I play a bunch of LD jam games and share my feedback on video. If that sounds interesting to you, please submit your game via this form: ► https://forms.gle/QkLGcpCpvre8qWFK9 Cheers!
Now that LD44 is over, I want to again congratulate everyone who participated, no matter if you finished or not. In the end we all learned a lot for out game dev and the next jam should be even better, who knows?
I also managed to play 30 games this time, so if you want to see me fail at platformers and blame the controls, here are all the parts of Phil Plays Your LD44 Games:

Ever wondered what a developer wanted to get across with their game, or how they structured their source code to achieve what they set out to do? Here's my attempt at solving the mysteries of what I intended to do and how it turned out in the end:

Hello there, ladies, gentlemen, and unicorns! I just posted a video about recreating sound effects from shoot-em-ups and I thought it might be interesting to any of you who either grew tired of BFXR or are simply curious about a new method of making sounds... https://youtu.be/DIMM5yv4or4
