@astrosboy15 and I will be teaming up for LD40 making this my second Jam and @astrosboy15 first.
We will be using:
Eclipse (Java)
BeepBox (for music)
Audacity (for additional sound effects/edits)
Piskel and Gimp (for assets and animations)
We have finished planing the game and are now beginning to code...
We had to scale down the scope of the game, but things are coming together now.
Here are some screen shots:

Basically hallucinations of yourself attack you, the goal is to survive as long as possible.
If the hallucinations touch you your insanity level rises (Making the game harder) and you lose health.
So far the coolest thing is how your insanity makes the hallucinations more opaque, like they are getting more real.
As for the theme we have this: The more interaction with the hallucinations the faster you go insane and die.
Well getting back to work now...
@astrosboy15 and I will be teaming up again for LD42!
Our tools:
Eclipse - Java + LWJGL3
Audacity/BeepBox - Music and sound effects
Piskel/Gimp - Asset creation and animations
Trello - Planning
LD40:
The last time we were able to do Ludum Dare was LD40, which went pretty well until we got to submission hour and realized we had no idea how to compile our game with the libraries we were using. So, unfortunately, we were unable to submit the game. Since then we have improved our coding skills, and several months after the Jam we learned a way to compile the game!

If anyone is interested here is Forest of Insanity:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1MelLgXk1BYzgDtDf7slIOL-S-jGb7Sz6
Instructions:
-Download and extract the zip to the desired destination.
-Run the LD40.jar file from the extracted folder(Should work across Windows/Linux/Mac).
Controls:
Esc - Quit
Enter - Start/Restart
AWSD - Movement
Other notes:
The point of the game is to survive the longest amount of time possible by avoiding the shadowy hallucinations stalking you. Touching them will cause insanity, resulting in a higher difficulty level, while at the same time reduce your health. The game ends when your health reaches zero, displaying your score and giving you an option to restart or quit.
(Yes, we know the game has several bugs--I mean features...)

We made a sort of underwater horror game where you try and keep your old and rusted submarine from exploding, running out of oxygen or losing power in sea monster infested waters. Feel free to check it out:
