Done! Well...done a while ago

Finished! And uploaded in time, despite having a mixture of appointments and work to do during the 48 hours. I'm honestly quite proud of what I actually managed to do, and amazed by what everyone else has also done.

Is this happening?

Does anyone know if the whole "Dare to Play" thing is going on? Have I missed the link/post? Or due to the delay in voting is it going to start much later than usual? Thanks

Not a Word Cloud

I got bored and drew my character from my game. Definitely not shameless self promotion. No. Never. 18406144em413431425710923/em937825504_o.jpg (Shrunken image because I have awful internet) (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/hopper)

Let's become a sheep

Though I might jump on the bandwagon wordcloud (1).png (psst, my games here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/hopper)

Lending a helping hand

I am so bored of study at the moment, so I need to take a break, and what better way to take a break than to rate games

If you are below 20 votes comment your game and I will * (try to) *play it (Windows or Web)

I'm going to play as many games as I can before voting is up

Thank you!

Whilst we wait for the results, I just want to put out a thank you to all the people who left comments on my game. I'm sorry that I can't thank you individually, but all the feedback was fantastic, and I really appreciate it all. It really helps me grow as a developer and create better creative content for the future. Thank you:

Results!

HOLY SHIT.PNG

:astonished: I am amazed. I am so suprised at this result, and I am just speechless. I've only been taking part in Ludum Dare for barely any time now, and I never expected to get within the top 100 for any category, let alone top 50. Thank you so much to everyone who rated my game Thankyou.png I have also decided to create a full length post-compo version, however progress will be slow, so if you want, follow my updates on the game on my facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PorcusPie/

UPDATED VISUALS

I have updated the visuals for Hopper. I finally don't have loads of work so I can actually work on the game. The background now has a colour, but I have also increased the shading and glow for the characters. This gives it a much softer view. I don't know how to upload videos to this site, so the full video is on facebook (sorry https://www.facebook.com/PorcusPie/videos/571820239873202/)

Let's do this!

I'm in once again. I think this is my sixth Ludum Dare so far (time flies). Not sure if I'll be able to complete a game this time as I am rather busy, but might as well give it my best shot. I'm going to try and actually put music in this next game (my last 4 all didn't have any), as now I actually have a basic understanding of how it works...

Also is there a wallpaper masterpost anywhere? I always used to love picking out a wallpaper to use, it got me really motivated for the event.

  • PROGRAM - Gamemaker Studio
  • MUSIC - Fl studio or Musescore (depends on the game)
  • GRAPHICS - Gimp and Krita
  • SFX - BFXR or Fl

Good luck everyone! It's gonna be fun

Progress

I was so busy I had to start around 7 hours late. Plus I'm in Australia so I have to sleep soon. Over all it's pretty hectic and I haven't set myself a small task either.

Music game version 1.gif

I plan to make a music game, with maximum of 6 lanes (minimum of 1) that change throughout the song depending on how you are progressing. More lanes = harder difficulty, hence the theme. It's a big effort but hopefully once I get all the basic code down it should be fine.

Progress Update 2

OKAY! So I was going to make a music game with 6 lanes, however that was too hard, both as a programmer and when playing the game. So due to time and difficulty I reduced it down to 4. I already have one song pretty much done, just need to make at least 2 more, then sprites, sfx and misc programming. I'm really glad at the scoring system and dynamic lane setup, it changes so nicely as you play, increasing and decreasing lane number, and the more lanes, the harder it gets Music game version 2.gif

Let's hope I get this done on time. I'm leaving to go to a beach tomorrow so I'm going to have to enter the compo, not the Jam. It's going to be a tight squeeze....

FINALLY

Finally got all the songs and basic gameplay down, now I just have to work on making it look good ;-;

Welp

So....I finished my game. (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/click) Due to timezones I have to sleep soon so I thought I might get it done early. I was so busy I pretty much only had a day to work on it, so I feel it could have turned out better, but this is what I have. It's a music based game, so it was a ton of work. I was non-stop for ages. Good luck to everyone who is still going! 2017-12-03 (3).png

YOU CAN DO IT

Multiplayer games?

Has anyone this LudumDare made an online Multiplayer game? I always remember they were really quite interesting and I want to try one out this time.

Hopper Re-make

Hey Everyone. Back in Ludum Dare 38 I made Hopper, a small little platformer that did suprisingly well, and since then I have been working on making a full version (progress on my fb page). I decided that given it's (almost) one year since I first created it, I would make a remastered version of my original entry, using the new physics and graphics, as well as patching out some bugs. It's a small game but I'm quite proud of it, and I'm glad it's coming along the way it is. Enjoy

I'm in, finally

It's been ages since I've been able to actually do a solo jam, with other commitments and such. Still pretty busy this weekend but I'm going to set aside some time for this. Going to be my 7th solo jam if memory serves me right. Seems like only yesterday I did my first

Good Luck everyone!

Day One Progress - Working title Recall

I'm actually going somewhere I'm happy with, that's new.

The concept isn't that complicated, mainly it's a platformer, but everytime you die you can pick up and throw your body around to either create new platforms or hit switches etc. I was having trouble finding an art style that fitted both the gameplay and concept, so I just said screw it and did a minimalist type design, somewhat like "Thomas was Alone" and similar games. The main thing that I need to nail now is level design, as it controls really smoothly. It's the first time I'm really focusing on programming with a controller and I'm suprised how well it's going. Probably going to screw up tomorrow due to how well today's gone.

Everyone's games look fantastic, and I can't wait to play them. Good luck!

Weird Ratings

Is anyone else getting really uneven ratings for some weird reason. I have 20 in all my categories except for graphics, which for some reason has 21. I don't know why someone decided to only rate graphics but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar thing?
