LD 43

Here we go !

Happy to be back in the game !

My last participation was in 2013 and I made my last game in 2015, so I will do my best. I'm happy with the selection, the final theme can only be inspiring.

Here is my toolset:

  • IDE : Cloud9 on a raspy3
  • Language : javascript (+ i tried to create my own HTML5 engine, just because)
  • Game design : some paper sheets and a pencil
  • Graphics : Photoshop (+ a color shifting tool i build this week to get a minimal palette)
  • Music will probably be non-existant or very minimal.

I will be streaming, often without mic or camera to stay focused, but you can join me at http://twitch.tv/UnexpectedCodingKiwi

But for now, let's grab 2/3 hours of sleep before the theme reveal. (:

Ludum Dare 46

My concept / gameplay

It will be a platformer/exploration game where you play a robot that runs by light/solar energy. You must find items to get out of a building but must regularly find something to recharge the batteries.

I will probably do a 2.5D or 2D perspective, depending on my avancement. I never really worked with light in my games, so it's a real challenge witch i'm happy take up !

You still can visit my stream and give me your advices/criticisms : http://twitch.tv/UnexpectedCodingKiwi

Well, well..

As I feared, my engine was not that ready and i had to take plenty of time to fix and add features (collisions, shading..). This means i won't be in the compo, but i'll try to submit a little something for the jam !

I'm actually pretty happy because it gave me a real challenge and i think I will be way better prepared next time (and i wont wait october to start again).

Here is a preview of what should be the light my player have to find to recharge itself and continue to explore. You can test my diferents "releases" at http://whatquentindoes.fr/ld46/
