This time, I decided to start with the title screen! No, the title isn’t final. :p
Well I’ve decided to only use up to three colors per graphic, so this is what the game will look like all the way through. I’ll make it look better tomorrow, hopefully.

And why is there only one entry at this time? By now there’s usually ten!

Gameplay, finally!

You can knock your enemies over now!
yay
You knock them over by.. touching them! Then the knocked over enemy can knock over other enemies. They release particles when they are defeated, and you also release a bit when you touch them. yay

Good day.

I’m in for this compo for sure. Hopefully I won’t lose motivation like last time.
I’ll be using Game Maker 8 Pro for the game, MS Paint for graphics, SFXR for sound effects (DrPetter deserves a medal for that program) and possibly Musagi for music.

So I got an idea for the theme. You’re a miner and you find an unexplored cavern, where you discover new types of gems and such.
What’s next is how the game will be made. Either a side-view two-dimensional platformer or a top view exploration game.

looking forward to seeing what yea do!

Engine

Decided to go for the top down game.

The game now has playable stuff.

The player (currently identified by a blue square) can move around and place dynamite (yellow square) to blow up walls (white squares). The exploding isn’t pictured, but all you’re missing out on is a red square and disappearing white blocks.

Next is to add the ability to die, and possibly some fancier graphics.

Graphics ahoy!

It’s a pretty big step up from solid boxes. Ground texture isn’t final, and will probably be changed. The blue circle thing is a bomb placed by the player.
Gems have a 1/10 chance of appearing when blowing up a block. This will definitely change, since luck is no fun.

End of day 1 I suppose.

null
Ores now randomly generate on walls! This will make doing the level generation much easier.

Big improvement

null
Next is to add enemies, and a way to advance!

Yo

I’m in. Using Game Maker 8/GML and good old MS Paint for graphics.
I have to attend a birthday party on Sunday, so hopefully I can finish by then!

Alright then

Not really a good theme, but whatever. At least I have some ideas immediately. Which isn’t very convenient because now I can’t decide on which idea to go with.

Playable

Graphics are placeholders, of course.

LD21

Well then.

It’s something. Nothing moves at the moment, guess I’ll start working on that now.

My game is at a point where I can start slapping down tiles and calling it a level.

Obligatory “I’m in” post

May as well say I’m in. Using the Game Maker 8 as usual, with sfxr for sound effects.

Tiles Stuff

null

There’s a controllable character, but it’s not shown here.
