Islands!!!

I’m super rooting for the theme ‘Islands’. Because, well, I’m on an island. How about that. Oh, and this particular island is famous for its potatos. (Quayle note: no ‘e’ in there) Purple potatos that defy the potato mold. Perfect fodder for LD48 thought.

I’m entering from Okinawa!

I’m entering the contest for the first time… in fact this will (hopefully) be my first public game. I’ll be programming on a Windows box in VS12 C++ using SDL2, the normal Image/TTF/Mixer extensions, possibly OpenGL 2+ ARB via GLEW and possibly BOX2d. I don’t have a framework except for pre-compiling SDL2 and friends. Graphics software: Adobe CS6, GraphicsGale, FLStudio 11(thank goodness for lifetime updates) and Anime Studio. Linux, Chrome and Android ports possibly given enough time. Good luck all!

Prize for highest rated game written in C++

Yeah yeah, so prizes are not the goal. But I’m offering a bounty of one Steam game gift of less than $20/2000Yen etc. to the designer of the game that has the highest rating that is programmed in C++. Hopefully it’s my own, because I’d like to buy Monaco and I need an excuse besides Notch tweeting that he likes it. Or, the winner can trade his prize for one potato in my choice of varieties. Tweet me @redsounding after the compo if you’re the winner! Native code forever! Small print:

C++ includes C code but does not include C#(though I love it) and Obj-C.

To be considered C++ it must include some reference to esoteric template meta-programming. Not.

C++11 is encouraged.

One use of the keyword ‘auto’ is required. If your code is not C++0x or C++11 you must define it yourself.

Use of a compiler define or global constant entitled LD48_POTATO is not required, but also encouraged.

End small print. All in fun, of course. Good luck to all.

Edit: Up to and INCLUDING $20 for a Steam game. For you technical types.

Minimals!

Decided to write a game about minimizing area. Still in SDL2, but if things get tight I’ll just make it in GameMaker.

First game character: AngryIon

Coding:

GameMaker Studio(good) -or- Love(also good) -or- C++/OpenGL(more, um, sadism? personal growth)

Audio:

FL Studio 11

Graphics:

Graphics Gale

Spriter

Maybes:

– ZeroBrane Studio-

-AutoTileGen-

-Notepad++-

-Visual Studio Pro(got it from work, I’m so poor!)-

I’m really looking forward to this one. I entered previously and learned quite a bit about realistic goals; My goal this time: finish with something complete! Bonus goal: fun too! Thank you, creators, for this opportunity!

I’m in…

I’m in. Haven’t done it for a while. Since I’m working that weekend too, I’m using GameMaker for speed of development.

Hi all!

Hi, I'm in for the compo. Tried a few times, didn't make it to the finish line, but as always going to do my best. Jumped ship from GameMaker to Godot using C#, good luck to all participating!
