i’m submitting my jam a little earlier, duty calls, brained stormed on the 1st day and came up with a bunch of wierd ideas, i saw alot of people using animals as their theme probably because everyone thought companion was gonna win(would have made an animal game too). had the initial idea of creating a game where you kill pigeons with cyanide pellets(there’s a song about killing pigeons in the park) but instead i went with this.
a story about a boy that goes to a shop to buy his 1st camera, and when he took his 1st picture, he got warped into this place. there’s actually a story for this game but i doubt i have the time and will to continue. did most of the ‘platformer’ mechanics and went to sleep after making a theme song
but woke up thinking i should make an adventure style instead =_= because this theme is just so zelda-ish and wouldn’t fit well with a platformer.
play it. >>>>http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-32/?action=preview&uid=48958<<<<
on to the actual post mortem, i realized tiled is such a convenient tool after using it for the 1st time making the maps, my to do list would be to make my own tile-sets cause its just so difficult to find a set that suits your needs and be decent at the same time(not that i make decent art to begin with, but will learn and improve). im actually surprised i managed to finish the mechanics in time, but yea will be working on my pixel art more after this and make sure i get to use my own art for the next LD, using art that’s not mine feels weird.
music wise as usual, i’m always too ‘lazy’ to add variations to my music, so it gets old after awhile, unlike final fantasy and the like. but its not really an issue if the game is short yea.
for the mechanics, i really hope to understand construct 2 a little more so i can make better games in general, will probably join those weekly game jams and see where it takes me. really wanna do compo for the next one.
