LD 42

Personal Space (Ludum Dare 42)

Hey all, this is my first Ludum Dare, and I hope you enjoy my game, Personal Space. In this game, you take on the role of an introvert with social anxiety...at a party. Avoid other humans at all costs. GIPHY link showing what I'm working on: https://gph.is/2METNGM

Today's Plan for Personal Space

  1. Tunnel vision
  2. Main menu and pause menu
  3. More Rooms
  4. Better sprites (walking direction)
  5. Sounds and music

I'll start at one..whatever isn't finished today will be pushed to tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Finishing up Personal Space! (Ludum Dare 42)

My game is almost finished! I have 3 hours left, and I just need to fix some bugs with the AI sprites. If I have time to spare, I may have time to add another room you can walk in...Can't wait to see what you guys think of Personal Space!

Just. Keep. Calm.

LD 43

Let's do this!

2nd LDjam here, good luck to all! Sacrafices must be made . . . hmmm . . . time to brainhurricane!

First Day

First day of game development went well! We got the basic character movement and mechanics functioning. There is still a few issues with the flashlight physics, but hopefully we can fix those fast enough. We have also started in on character and enemy sprites, and some of the important cutscenes throughout the game. Coming up:

1) Finish flashlight mechanics

2) Add movement to enemy characters

3) Level design

4) Music and sound

Wish us luck!

Second Day

The second day did not go well. I wasn’t able to work on the programming except for about 4 hours at the end of the day, but at least our artist got several cutscenes finished! All in all, it was slightly productive. I got the flashlight mechanics working (almost). Next up is the rest of the game!

Go.

Ludum Dare 46

Preparing for LD46

Well it's that time again. This time Cipherix Studios is rolling in with a duo: Ryan and Berlynn! I'm Ryan, and I'll be doing to programming and game design, while Berlynn will be doing the art and story (sound is up in the air at the moment). The last Ludum Dare I had time for was 42, but it's great to be back! I'm getting all my weekend work done early, and cleaning up my work space. I'm currently working on some older projects to refresh my memory and remember some of the skills for game design. I'm confident this year will be a great success!

Happy Jamming!CipherixLogo.png

EDIT: Technically my 3rd game jam, but the second one never got finished! (Still an active project though, with a bigger scale)

24 Hours

Here we go again

The Plan

Engine: Unity

Music: Bosca Ceoil

Sound Effects: sfxr

Art: Piskel/Photoshop

3D Modeling: Blender

All are as needed. 3 hours to go, good luck everyone!

Late Night

Good progress, though. We're making a game about a fish trying to stay alive and make it back to the ocean by jumping between smaller bodies of water, like ponds, fish bowls, or buckets!

We finished up the prototype with the basic movement system, and the base art has been made. The movement feels pretty good, and I'm happy with it so far. It feels like something is missing, but I'm sure it'll come to me tomorrow. Until then!

Day 2

Alright things are going well. The movement system is done, but will need fine tuning as time goes on. The art is coming along great, and we're very happy with the art style. I'll need to add a swimming function, add a better force indicator, and add a main menu. Might spend the later parts of today on level design, if not I'll do it tomorrow.

I'm thinking one long level in the style of Getting Over It. Maybe multiplayer even ???

We'll see ;) Capture.PNG A little sneak peak of the fish (PROGRAMMER ART BY FAR, MUCH BETTER IN ACTUAL GAME)

Today Went Wonderfully!

We got a ton done. Most of the art is finish, now it's on the animating. The movement is fully functional and feels pretty nice. We got the basics of a start menu and a pause menu, and now something actually happens when you die. An oxygen bar was added to make it possible to die, and the fish actually swims in the water now!

Tomorrow's Plan: - Importing the proper art - Working on the starting area - Level design - Some play testing (Hopefully)

Happy jamming :)

Nothing has blown up yet

Everything is going pretty well! The new art is in and looks amazing! All of the placeables, like the fish bowl/tank, the bathtub, etc, are all working amazingly. Next up is the full level finished, the animations, and small bug fixesCapture.PNG

Leap Of Faith

Ludum Dare 46 is finally over, and I can happily say that we got our game done on time! (by a thin margin)

Our game, Leap Of Faith, is about a fish who escapes the fish bowl and makes a break for the ocean. Jump from pond to pond and through people's houses to reach our goal. Careful, the game is not easy, and you may want to give up :) Good luck!

Instructions:

  • Drag backwards to bring up a power indicator, showing the direction and force in which your fish will fly
  • Move right until you reach the ocean, but be careful, it gets weird
  • Don't run out of oxygen, and stop in water (any water) to restart the O2 bar
  • Be free!

A Huge Thank You!

Thank you to everyone trying out our game, and specifically thank you to CyberlightGames for playing our game on stream!

Here is the clip link if you want to check it out

It means a lot to us, and it was just so cool to see someone else play it.

CyberlightGames will be doing more streams testing out games, I highly suggest checking them out!

Furthermore, if you'd like to check out our game, I would really appreciate it! Here's the link :)

I'm currently porting my game to mobile!

I want to know if you guys would be interested in a mobile port for my game for Android and iOS.

Here's the web version: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/leap-of-faith

Let me know what you think about a mobile version being released! I'll be polishing it up a lot before releasing it of course, but I think it could be good. I'm not sure whether to make it free with a small number of ads, or make it $0.99, but those are all decisions to be made later. In the mean time, tell me what you think!

SO close to 100 browser plays!

We currently have 98 browser plays on itch.io, the chapagene is all ready to go, the party poppers are preped, and the horns are at the ready.

Here is the link if you want to try and be one of those two plays we need! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/leap-of-faith
