I am in!

Dear community, I am in! I got my Idea at this morning about 6 clock and have been working on it since then. It’s about Mr. Nothing. The problem with Mr. Nothing is that he doesn’t even really exists. So, his journey is to become Mr. Something in a 2D platform world. I wish you all good luck and lot of fun!

Ludum Dare 45 post mortem

I finally made it! My post mortem of Ludum Dare 45: https://youtu.be/ddJuDK0GfGs

It took only 6 months of work.

Ludum Dare 47

I am in on this adventure!

My my last Ludum Dare was the 45. I am therefore very glad to rejoin this great event. Since early this morning I have been thinking about what kind of ideas you could create with that theme:

  • Insurance Company - You work at an insurance company day for day. And you have to fulfill your tasks every day and check your coffee level, so you can keep up with your tasks
  • Cash Register Simulator - You are working in a shop and have to sell stuff. This also means to scan the articles, weight the vegetables etc.

Any feedback on my ideas?

If you want to get into the devlog feeling, you could check out my Post Mortem Ludum Dare 45. :) https://youtu.be/ddJuDK0GfGs

Interested on Code Review of your Unity / C# project?

Last Ludum Dare, I did some Let's Play of some games and uploaded it on youtube. This time I thought about doing Let's Review Code instead. In my job as a software developer, I have to do code reviews almost daily. But my code gets also reviewed when I have created a feature or fixed a bug. I consider code reviews as one of the most important lessons to become a better coder.

Maybe you don't work as a software developer professionally and therefore you don't have that opportunity to get your code reviewed that often. Don't worry code reviews are not about perfection. I do the code review under the aspect of a game jam. Maybe we can find some tricks that can make you code faster during a game jam. ;)

If you are interested, let me know below under the comments.

Let's Code Review

A while ago, I published a blog post here in the channel if anyone was interested in a Code Review and I have created two Let’s Code Review videos since then. I thought it would be different format than only playing the games. I would be cheerful about some feedback if you find such videos interesting and what I could do to improve the videos.

Let's Code Review!

A while ago, I published a blog post here in the channel if anyone was interested in a Code Review and I have now created the third and last Let’s Code Review video for LD 47. Its the game Round Out from @foolmoron. I thought it would be a different format than only playing the games. What do you say, should I do another review in LD 48?

I am in with Godot!

beyourself_.jpg

I am in! Have fun, enjoy your life, but also enjoy the struggle and don't forget that every participation is a success even though your game didn't finish.

what-is-this-godot.png For the first time I will go with the Godot engine. And we can all notice that there is a big move towards the Godot Engine. I have used the mono version (C#) now over a couple of weeks, and I just really love it. Let's go Godot!

Good luck and have fun!

Hang in there people, don't give up!

Some game jams are hard, but that's not a reason to give up. Enjoy the struggle and keep on! Maybe rethink your strategy and reduce your scope. I am currently in a lot of trouble, but I hope I find a way out of here.

Madness time!

Yesterday I created the avatar generation.

ludum-dare-55-progress-small.gif

The avatar has 3 components: hair, face, and body. For each component, I have created 3 separate styles. These are then randomized, and the body gets a random color. With this, it's very easy to create a lot of different characters. Nevertheless, my main game loop and game core are still missing. This is going to be the big challenge. 🏆

Wanne see how I play your game? Come to my stream!

Hi GameDevs,

I will stream on Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/schw3de) and play some LudumDare games. Join the stream and I will play yours.
