My Design Doc :)

Description:
You have just inflitrated a corporte building and stolen
Research and Development Documents. The Alarm will sound in 15 min.
If you are seen or head you will be captured.

 ESCAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had lots of fun. Thanks Ludum Dare people for working so hard getting server fixed.

Now that I have gotten some sleep :) I just wanted to say thanks to everyone. This was my first LD48 and it was fun.

I learned a lot in the last two days.  The hardest part for me was not adding more features.  I had to take out some “Fun” elements of my game but I wanted something that worked above all.

One other note my submission has a WINDOWS Link but the link should work on Linux, Windows and Mac since its java.

Good:

Jmonkey was easy to use.

Hydrogen Drum Machine was cool.

Gimp rocked.

Blender 2.5X was awesome

Bad:

Loading Images in Jmonkey have a weird Flip By default. So I had to make my Letters Backwards.

Blender exporter to Ogre xml puts a capital “F” on False so the xml parser cries.

For the next LD48 should I do web?

Since this was my first LD48 I used what I knew. Java and Jmonkey.

What is peoples opinion of platforms to use?

Seems like the web based games are a lot easier for people to access. Maybe next time I should do HTML5?

Go for it! Sound still seems to be quite of an issue though…at least with the entries I tried.

Use Flash JS(what you would be using) doesn’t have any libraries like Flixel or FlashPunk. Also there are lots of issues. Flash is pretty universally at least on the same OS.

I’m weird, but I always like to try out something new during each compo.

I have noticed that the least-rated games are all Linux/Windows downloads. And I know I play all the web games first and then go back for a second pass because downloading the game before playing it is just a little too much hassle. Web is clearly the most accessible format…

I AM In for the October Challenge

Will be doing a Sand Castle Tower Defense Game for Android.

Yeah, cool! Actually there can’t be enough TD-games! I just love them!!! And because of this like you I decided to give the genre a try as well (also on android). Do you use a special engine/framework?
03. Oct 2011 · 18:38 UTC
@detrom No framework just starting from scratch with a SurfaceView. It will be 2D using lots of drawBitmap :)

Going to post a old game see if anyone wants to donate to the cause :)

Here is a game I have been working on for the last year.  It has some problems on windows with the menu titles.

http://script-blocks.googlecode.com/files/ScriptblocksAlpha13.zip

This Video Explains it

Its open source and I’m still not sure how I want the game play to work.

If you want to help me succeed in the October Challenge you can donate here

Here is a more complicated creation

Thanks,

Greg

“This is my second Ludum Dare was thinking of trying to write a Android App. Is that against the rules?”

First Screen Shot

I got the gun model attached.  Not sure why I had to point it toward the negative Y axis in blender. Learning as I go.

I had a blast

I really enjoyed making the game.  This was my second ludum dare and I think it went a bit smother.

I had fun using jmonkey here is some of my PM notes

Good:
The blender importer is freaking awesome. I was able to model and get the models into the game with ease once I figured out the gotcha
Enjoyed using LMMS for music even though I did not create much its still fun.
I used the Blender UV exporter for all of my textures so i save some time doing that. Also it gave it a nice lonely feeling.

Bad:
I still dont know how to use Nifty. lots of things I wanted to do I could not figure out. Maybe someone could make a video tutorial on some nifty basics.
I didnt get a chance to do any animation.
I had in mine a whole second level for the game but ran out of time.

To the Ludum dare peeps : Thanks for having this website :)

Had a lot of fun
It was my first time to use melonjs. I really like it!
Note: Hard is really Hard.
I used
http://www.melonjs.org/
Blender – Modeled and Animated in Blender then Saved as Sprite
GIMP to make the Tiles Images
LMMS to make background Music

Since this is a web app you can just grab the js from the page source

Warmup My First Unity Android Game

I tried making a Flappy Bird Clone. Let me know what you think. Its for Android. (Unity, Blender, GIMP, sfxr). My Highest Score is 21

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scriptblocks.freerunner

I used Blender to make the animation and rendered it as orthognal then used a GIMP plugin to turn individual screen renders into a sprite sheet.

This tutorial helped a lot http://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/modules/beginner/live-training-archive/infinite-runner.

I used the admob plug which went in really easily.

I still am a bit confused on picking resolution of the camera to stretch based on size of screen.

I am also confused on how to add images to google play store. seems to show the same one over and over.

The file size is 8 megs most of all just the standard unity libs , it seems a bit big for mobile but you get a lot of features for that size

I was most impressed with Unity sprite editor and animator

Thanks for trying it out. Good luck to everyone.

Hamster Run

You Tube Video of Hamster run

It might run a bit crazy on your box I had the sensitivity turned way up on the slow box I was developing on. When running on a faster machine it was unplayable.
