First Jam

My first jam, it's fun.

I'm creating a quick and dirty (just the way you like it) game that combines clicker and tower defense.

Each tower uses energy when it shoots and you increase a towers energy by clicking on it, towers without energy doesn't fire.

Enemies spawn with increased movespeed the longer the game progresses.

Right now I'm implementing a timer and click counter, ohh and the graphics are not created by me but part of Kenney Game Assets

My first jam is done, Thx!

This was my first JAM and I have to say that it was fun. I will be back next time for sure!

A couple of hours after the theme was announced I somehow(?) came up with the idea that became my submission.

A game that combines clicker and tower defense: TowerClicker te.PNG

What I learned

Since this was my first GameJam I thought I would share three things I learned(and reflected upon) during the time I made TowerClicker

Cut features

My first plan included things like abilities, turret modifiers, different enemies, but I came to the decision that cutting features and focusing only on the core mechanic was a better idea.

If I hadn't cut those things from this version of the game I probably wouldn't have had time to submit something that was kinda easy to start playing and enjoy.

Sleep

First day I pressed on into the night, even though I was seeing progress I had to pay the price the next day with my mind being slower and productivity lowered.

So keep a good sleep schedule, the amount of hours are the same but the quality differs extremely.

Food/Drinks

I kept my calories low/medium and protein intake high, also drank crazy amounts of water with the occasional coffee.
