Serena’s First Ludum Dare

Soooo excited to participate in my first Ludum Dare!  I’ll be hunkered down the weekend in my home office, maybe take the Surface Pro 3 out if I’m feeling a little cabin fever.  GameArt

Tools

  • Game Maker Studio
  • Photoshop
  • PaintTool SAI
  • NotePad++
  • sfxr

Still not sure what I’m gonna use for music, I suppose I’ll have to dig around the community for ideas.  I am so excited!  I usually have to do some much of the business and graphics side of making games, I’m pumped to be doing some actual game DESIGN. 😀

Almost Halfway Through and Doing Great!

Can you guess what this game is gonna be about? Well, it’s not much to look at, but even artists have to make programmer art before polish!  I decided to go with a less literal interpretation of “Connected Worlds” but I’m really happy with the idea and I think it fits.  I’m about 90% done with the game code.  I’m really feeling confident this is gonna be a pretty fun game (and girly!) game.  I still have lots and lots to do (which should be obvious) so I don’t want to use to much brainpower on social media.  I have a time-lapse thing running so they’ll be lots of WIP material. Anyways, back to work!

That means you, fellow devs who are procrastinating!

Ludum Dare – Let’s make this official!

I’m in! This will be my second Ludum Dare.

Tools:

  • Game Maker
  • Photoshop
  • sfxr
  • inudge (maybe)
  • Watercolor paints, paper and brushes

I’m not sure what the theme is but I was thinking it’d be really cool to make the art in watercolor!  Here’s a piece I made a few weeks ago (if I do the game art in watercolor I’ll do a time-lapse of that, too)!

I’m considering going with watercolors for this game as well, so I’m happy to see I’m not alone here. I’ll definitely be checking your entry out.

A Game Made with Watercolors…

Well, that was the dream for this Ludum Dare!  I got hmm… about half of it actually painted out in watercolor. I still stuck with a watercolor theme in the game though… a weird chibi that paints enemies with her hair…?!  Go ahead and give it a try!
