No screenshots to share at this point, still very early stages. So early in fact that I think I bit off more than I can chew since I can't dedicate myself to this project this weekend. That said, I like where this idea is going and even if I don't make the deadline I am planning to finish it off and get it up for people to play even if you can't vote on it.
I'm just about to throw in the towel on this one. My little card game is soooooooooo far behind. Simplest of mechanics are causing me the biggest of headaches. Think I'll try to sleep on it for 5 or 6 hours, maybe inspiration will come in a dream.
Scrapped the Card Game, Shooter Clone in Coming In Final Hours. It was taking way too long and way to many issues, I still like the idea of the card game and might do something with it in my free time but for now, I'm trying to put together the quickest entry ever!
Talk about crunching time, with about 6 hours total making this game (many hours spent on another that I trashed) I came up with this shooter. Nothing original. Planned to add additional enemy types, bonuses, and other weapon types such as a bug bomb. Might add those things later just to polish it up a bit after the voting ends. Certainly going to have a few bugs in it.

This is the second attempt I did for this contest, the first fell through and became too complicated for the time I had. In the end, this is about 6 hours worth of work so I'm pretty happy with what I came up with in that amount of time. I'm still working on this to polish it up so expect and update in the next week or so.

That's right, unless you are one of the amazing 9 people that have voted on my really terrible game, you are really missing out! It isn't only the least talked about but it is possibly the worst game you'll play this year! I know, you can hardly contain your excitement right? Me either! Don't miss your opportunity to play this amazingly reprehensible excuse for a game. While it may be around forever, wouldn't you rather play it now than later after everyone else has already had their fun trolling me in the comments? What are you waiting for?
... Seriously though, I have 9 votes and would love to get to 20. I know the game is not good, but I want to fix that and need some additional feedback. I don't plan to turn this into an amazing game or anything, but something a little more playable as I doubt I'll take it down off itch.io. No download required, you can play in your browser. MAC users beware, it requires right-clicking which was a complete failure on my part and I'm glad it was pointed out.

We'll see, work and stuff. But to hell with it, I'M IN!
OMG, again my least favorite option was voted for and I had no plan for it whatsoever! Life and such is again in the way (when is it not) and thus I'm just going to plan for a Jam entry this time around and skip the self made crappy art phase :)
What am I doing? I still have next to no idea but it will involve Kenney art, this I know!
So I finally found some direction. Apparently a night of casino fun and social drinking wasn't the best idea but alas, 3 hours of sleep isn't stopping me! I will be doing a Jam entry this round so I can ignore having to make any of my own art.
I'm taking a lot of inspiration from one of my favorite games called "Atlantis" on the Intellivision which is a game similar to Missile Command. I've always loved this sort of game so hopefully I can do something with it. I've taken a lot of time this time to plan out what I want to do (likely way too much but I have a list of musts and nice-to-have). I have some very basics completed and have a screenshot. Note that the only working aspect at this moment is that the cannons will follow the mouse. Unlike my previous games though, I'm going to ignore mouse inputs for anything other than aiming. I think mac users and laptop users with only touch-pads will appreciate this.
With the exception of the star background and the Shield bubble, all art assets from Kenney.nl

Made a lot of coding progressing last night and this morning. Life is about to get in the way though but should have time tonight to work on it some more. I have guns that fire and do damage to enemies. Power management is up and going thought I'm sure values will need tweaked. I really like the power management aspect I'm adding in where your shields and weapons both draw from the same power source. When you fire a bullet, the damage it can do is increased by a percentage of the available power (and subsequently reduces your available power) so you have to manage how much you want to fire versus how much you want to keep up for shields. Sounds more complicated than it actually is. Hope to have something more playable up early tomorrow morning. Kenney's assets has really helped me focus on what I'm good at. I like doing the compo but with work and life, that's just too much stress these days.
Stuff is finally starting to work now! In fact this is technically a game now. You get score, you have a general goal, and things function. That said, there is no end game or "pretty" things going on.
To do must haves: Bonus drops from destroyed enemies (such as shield recharge) Indicators that show how much power you have, score, etc...
Nice to haves: Special weapon(s) so that you can kill stuff faster (and be more interesting) Animations for destroyed objects Sound/Music
A lot to do with only a few hours tomorrow to probably work on it. But alas I'm exhausted. If I had to, I could submit it now and generally happy that I finished something. In any case, here is a GIF:

We'll it is finally done and I'm very happy with my game this time around which usually isn't the case. Check it out!

Check out Invaders from the Next Planet Over! I'd love to get some more constructive feedback as I'm hoping to build on this project in the future.

Greetings All! Thank you for your feedback on my game thus far, I've taken suggestions that are within the scope of the rules for making updates and have applied those. Fixes include:
Start and End screen are no longer by-passable immediately. There is a 3 second timer so you can just spam click your way through it.
Power Warning no longer plays continuously. It instead plays every 5 seconds. Much less annoying.
I re-balanced variable settings. Things ramp up a bit faster now.
There was a math issue for damage when a ship collides with your base, this has been corrected and power use has been balanced a bit around it.
Hit boxes are a bit larger than they were on the enemies
There is still no final score on the game over screen, I didn't get time to include that during the contest and feel it is likely out of scoop for the rules post jam. I'm planning on continuing to develop this game to a more finished product so look for a post jam version in the future.

Took a few minutes yesterday to record a quick Post Mortem for my entry. Check it out if you are so inclined. There is also still time to vote! If you haven't played my game, I'd love your input.

I'm curious how many games were submitted and rated? It is nice to know you placed at X place but what's that out of? I could be in the top 50% or dead last ;)
Might be in. Have to see. I want to be in. These things always seem to happen on the busiest of weekends :)
There is just too much going on this weekend to give this jam any serious thought. So I'm throwing in the towel having only done some concept sketches thus far. Hopefully next round I'll have time and hopefully we get a theme that sparks some creative interest in me.
Okay, I had an idea come to me finally but it is really basic. I might have time to finish it so I'm gonna try to do this. Lol, 5 hours for compo, it is possible but probably a jam unless I find the idea just sucks then I'm out for sure ;)
