I COMPLETELY forgot about making Mac and Linux builds for my entry. Well it's done!

Check out my game if you'd like! It's a Escape The Room + Programming game!

"You’re trapped in a room with only one visual way out; The door.. But it’s locked.. How will you escape? All you see in the room is a computer, some desks, random objects, a note, and a safe.. You resort to the computer and try your hardest.. After your escape you stumble upon something unexpected.."

I've found an issue with the Power System where it'd keep resetting itself as you typed. this was causing difficulties getting the power back on, it should be fixed now.
I've also found an issue with the Audio System where it was defaulting at 0% volume for new players.
Fixed some difficulty problems (The typing minigame for the Power System now gives you 50 seconds instead of 30)
And added something explaining which ones are the "compile errors" in the Compile error minigame.

Thanks so much for playing & rating my game! Every time I participate in Ludum Dare it's always been a ton of fun! (this is my 3rd LD and 4th Gamejam)

I started off hating the theme, I had a hard time coming up with anything that would be easy enough for me to develop in 3 days, it took me around 3 hours to even think of anything, Until I found a site someone made that generates 2 random genres and mashes them together to give you some ideas. I got Escape The Room + Programming, once I saw those 2 genres I got so many ideas flowing through my head, I've always wanted to make an ETR game, and a game about cracking codes and stuff, So I instantly got to work, first thing I always do is draw basic sprites to use as placeholder and I polish them later on if I have time. Then I lay out the level, the UI, basically everything I have in mind. Then I get to programming non-stop. I usually get the core of the game finished within the first 4-6 hours of development, so that leaves the rest of the time for making the audio and finding music I think fits the game well (I can't make music). After all the audio and mechanics are in place. I polish the crap out of the game.
I love the way the game turned out, It ended up being just what I imagined. Except it being so difficult.. I had planned to fix the difficulty but I didn't have time! But, I think the difficulty is what makes it fun, so i'm okay with it. I enjoy playing the game sometimes just to challenge myself and see if I can beat it quicker than the last time I played it.

Sorry for the long post :P Just wanted to say I had a lot of fun!
Hello there! I'm gonna be streaming your Ludum Dare 42 Games for a little bit! hop on in at http://www.twitch.tv/steel_dev (!submit and !gamelist)
This is progress on my game, Ritual Slaughter- in this the player must Sacrifice 5 things to summon and kill Lucifer, to stop him from destroying the world!

Game is pretty much done, just need to finish the boss battle and polish everything. Thanks to my girlfriend, Nikki (not her real name, it's an Alias) for some of the art, you can check her out on her Deviantart
What I'm using
Using the Unity engine, and Visual Studio Code, using the language C# and Aseprite for the sprites, and Nikki used PainttoolSAI for the other art, along with Aseprite as well.

Thanks to girlfriend for the art above ^^
In this game you summon Lucifer by sacrificing parts of game mechanics, and you then kill him- gain any power you want, and escape! :D

Hello there! I know it can be quite difficult to get plays on your games with the amount submitted flooding it and basically possibly hiding yours. so I'm here to offer some help with that :D
Comment your game :D
Play my game, leave a review/rating, and I'll do the same in return for yours when I can :D
My game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/ritual-slaughter
Info about my game:
The world is at risk of being destroyed by Lucifer, and you must stop him. Summon Lucifer by setting up the ritual, Sacrifice parts of game mechanics, which will make the battle more difficult- then Kill Lucifer. Use his soul to gain what you want, and get outta dodge! :D
This gamejam was fun- as was all the others, this one was far more stressful than the others since I was trying new things.
A whole new approach at a boss battle than usual- as in multiple phases, and versions of the boss battle music- of course meaning I needed a lot more animations for the boss (there are 3 phases- normal, then phase 2 when he reaches 200 HP he begins to fly, and shoot fireballs, summons enemies quicker, and moves quicker, then phase 3 when he reaches 50 HP, he gets faster with his fireball shooting for the remainder of his life) each phase has it's own version of the normal battle music, which took forever to record and play.
if it wasn't for my girlfriend- Nikki(Alias ofc- her deviantart) for doing the character art, and other art, I wouldn't have gotten as much done as I did. So I really appreciate her help on the game- My first time working with another person on a game as well.

This was my first time attempting a top-down isometric type 2d view- I think I did well :D
(old IMG from when game was in-dev, but it showcases the isometricness)
I spent a lot of time animating the characters- Mainly the boss, he was the hardest to animate.
I also spent a lot of time recording the music- it was my first time properly playing my guitar, and recording it. Was very low on time (only an hour left) and I was stressed.. so I kept missing notes, so sadly the music doesn't sound as good as I wanted it to- But I just couldn't submit without music, the music really adds to the game and is an important part.
I'm mainly a programmer, so a LOT of time was spent looking at code. I was very exhausted when the jam was over- but I felt very relieved that my game was complete.. Of course though, as always with me- right after uploading and testing it, I find a bug I didn't run into before uploading it.. so I had to reupload a few times lol
I'm very happy with how the game turned out, I wasn't sure on participating this time around, but once I saw the theme- I got an idea right away, and so did Nikki- we combined ideas a bit, and I got to work, and so did she!
The idea was this: The player has to build a ritual, and summon Lucifer to kill him after sacrificing certain things.
At first, the sacrifices allowed the player to type what they wanted, and Lucifer would make snarky comments on what they sacrificed when he's summoned- but that idea was scrapped because of time- so I replaced it with sacrificing parts of game mechanics- so for example: sacrificing Life would decrease the players HP- which by the way, the player cannot get health back. Each sacrifice is meant to make the boss battle more difficult.
A bunch of features I sadly didn't have time to add- like the ability to skip the dialogue, and cut scenes to make it more obvious on what the player had to do.
Overall, I'm very very happy with this game, and I had a good time- and I think I've improved my development skills a ton.
