Tic-Attack-Toe (minilLD #63)

Tic-Attack-Toe

Tic-Attack-Toe offers the fun of Tic-Tac-Toe AND the fun of a turn-based strategy game. So, it is about as fun as a turn-based strategy game.

Tic-Attack-Toe is a mix of Tic-Tac-Toe and a turn-based strategy shooter.  You command the O’s, and can capture flags and shoot down enemies.  You can play with your friends, or, if you have no friends (or don’t like having your friends come over and take turns using the mouse to play) there is some AI that works just as well!*

*AI may not work as well depending on your friend’s IQ

Botany (LD34 Entry)

Gif1

The plant coming to life

I turned 17 today, and what better way to celebrate than post a bunch of gifs of my LD 34 entry?

In Botany, you play as an evil plant battling the military.

GIF2

Bite, spit, and grow plants to take out your foes.

You can bite, spit acid, and grow evil plants to help you take down your foes.

It features three unique boss fights and 21 levels of combat.

General Broad won’t let you through without a fight.

Of course, the most important thing in Botany is the story, which through riveting dialogue tells the story of passion, self-actualization, and the triumph of the human spirit.

GIF4

Botany features a cast of dynamic characters that display realistic emotions and tell heart-warming messages of hope and perseverance.

Combat

Botany is a game that will really grow on you, so give it a try!

I heard Ludum Dare might be getting sponsors, so I thought I might subliminally suggest one.

Switchboard Heights (More Operator Shenanigans)

Switchboard Heights

Switchboard Heights is a unique operator and puzzle-platformer blend, and it’s gotten quite the reception!

There have been a lot of operator games this LD.  In fact, here is a list of the ones I’ve found:

Hello Hello

One-Armed Operator

Switchboard Operator

The Operator (ForeignGuyMike)

The Operator (Gipzo)

The Switch – Worker

Allo?

Recently, I added an operator edition to my LD game, Blunderbuss, but I decided that I wanted to torture enrich the LD community by making yet another operator game, Switchboard Heights.  It is a unique take on the operator genre, a puzzle-platformer with pieces that you can rearrange.  I made it from scratch over the last few days for some reason, probably because I have no life love making games and felt really motivated.  You can play it here, or you can just play one of the 1910 entries actually entered in the LD.

HackOS Results

This was my 7th Ludum Dare, and I am super happy with my results!

HackOS Results.png

This is my first time ranking in the top ten in any category, so getting top ten in three categories simply blew me away. Thank you to everyone who played and rated HackOS!

Since the jam ended, I have made three new games, one of which was made for LOWREZJAM. My entry, Under the Weather, currently only has 6 votes, so if you participated in LOWREZJAM, feel free to play and rate it here!cloudsmallGIF.gif

Edit: I got to 10 ratings and placed 14th! Thank you to everyone who rated!

HackOS Extended

My LD 39 game, HackOS, got 4th overall and 2nd in innovation, so I decided that I should work on a post-compo version.

The result is HackOS Extended, an expansion featuring 15 new levels and a new mechanic.

Permanence got 1st overall!

Capture.PNG

Thank you to everyone who played and rated Permanence!

This was my 8th Ludum Dare, and when I started back in 33, I never imagined that I would make it this far. My only goal was to eventually get in the top 100. When my previous game, HackOS, got 4th, I honestly thought that was the best I'd ever do. Now this really is probably the best I'll ever do, but I look forward to making more games in the future and seeing all the brilliant games made by the community. I want to thank everyone for making this event fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again in Ludum Dare 41.

Predetermined

PredeterminedGif21.gif

I recently released a new game called Predetermined, in which you use echoes of the player that repeat your movements in order to solve puzzles. If you enjoyed Permanence, or if you enjoy tile-based puzzle games in general, I would strongly recommend checking it out. It is available for download here:

Overwrite got 2nd in compo!

Overwrite.png

Thank you to everyone who played and rated Overwrite!

This was my 10th Ludum Dare, and I am extremely happy with the results. I wasn't too sure how well this game would work, as I felt the mechanics were a bit too open-ended for their own good, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Also, since I don't get the chance to self-promote very often, feel free to check out some of my other games! I make a lot of puzzle games and basically nothing else.

Permanence is the winner of Ludum Dare 40 (it won mood as well)! I might be biased, but I think it is pretty good.

Snake Blocks is a game I'd recommend if you really enjoy puzzle games. It is fairly difficult, and I consider it one of my best games in terms of puzzle design and mechanics.

I have many more available for download here, roughly ordered by how much I'd recommend them.

Omelettes Results and Eggstended Edition

Omelettes came 17th in the compo portion of Ludum Dare 43!

Thanks to everyone who played and rated (I got a ridiculous amount of ratings this time around)!

If you haven't tried it yet, or tried it and wanted more, now is the perfect time to give the updated version a try.

Omelettes Eggstended offers even more eggs to break and elevators that (attempt to) mimic the player's height.

Both versions are available for download here: https://steven-miller.itch.io/omelettes
