I Built a Gadget That Thinks Before Acting

up.png Just wrapped up my very first game jam! I went through several concepts before landing on signal latency. The core mechanic revolves around a gadget that triggers devices, but here’s the twist: each one has a different delay. Success depends on mastering these timings to move forward. 🕹️ 2.png I experimented with the visuals quite a bit—from a spy-themed aesthetic to the bright, minimalist style you see now. I think this "pop" look really suits the fun gameplay. 🎮 3.png Being a solo dev with less than two days on the clock, I had to be smart with my time. I skipped complex 3D modeling to focus on the logic. Except for some music I had "in the drawer," everything was made during the jam. This project might be small, but it’s been a massive source of inspiration. I can already see how this mechanic could scale with upgrades and environmental puzzles.

Had a great time, and good luck to all the other participants! 😊

My entry is now playable in Browser! (The painful UE4 HTML5 port)

up.png Hi everyone!

I’ve finally managed to tame the beast and export my game for Web (HTML5). If you don't feel like downloading the Windows build, you can now check it out directly on Itch.io! In Delayon, you control a gadget that sends signals to interact with various devices. Each signal has a different delay, so you need to carefully time your actions to activate mechanisms. HighresScreenshot00054.png The "Porting Hell": To be honest, porting an Unreal Engine 4.27 project to Web in 2026 is a special kind of challenge. I spent hours fighting the infamous RuntimeError: null function and wrestling with memory limits. At one point, even the math nodes decided to stop working! But it’s done. I’ve even added a Difficulty Selection (Easy/Hard) in the Web version to make the experience more accessible for those who just want to soak in the atmosphere. Good luck with your entries!!
