I’m in!

Heya. First real Ludum Dare, I am really excited to participate. I have made entries for Mini LD 67 and 68, but this will be even more intense I guess. I’ll be using Game Maker Studio for programming, PyxelEdit for graphics and sfxr for sounds. I also plan to livestream. Good luck in advance to everyone!

We're in

We are a small group of students and we will try to make something nice this weekend. Good luck to everyone!

Our progress so far.

First update after 2 days. We have made some progress on our game. The engine basics are working now and we will only add features when needed from now on. Here is a sneak peek at what to expect: giphy.gif

Well...

We officially stop development. For now. We simply ran out of time and had to stop.

What we learned:

- DON'T PLAN TOO MUCH.

We learned this the hard way. We just planned too much content and then we didn't manage to implement all of it, leaving us with a game that screams "unfinished" in every corner. Our goal next time will be to focus on simple, yet fun gameplay.

- Share workload.

This is also something important. We kind of worked on everything when we felt like it, leaving everything partly finished.

- SLEEP.

Just... don't stay up for 50 hours straight. It doesn't work.

We are going to upload the unfinished version to the jam. Keep in mind that it had almost three times as much content planned. Overall, it was a great project with alot of fun, we just ran out of time

I'm in!

Alright, I'm in. And excited. Let's do this! Tools are pretty much the same as last time, Game Maker Studio 2, PyxelEdit and Marmoset Hexels for Graphics and BFXR/FL Studio 12 for music and sound. Good luck to everyone, lets have an awesome jam!

Some progress

Well, I made some progress so far. My idea is that every coin you collect makes you slower, but you need them to buy things in the shop after the levels. You can throw them away to get more agile, but then you have less coins to spend. Tricky. So far I got a raw engine working, now starts the work on that sweet sweet grappling hook, because... grappling hook. Also here is a random GIF from my amazing test room. game.gif

Progress 2.0

Wow, this starts to feel like a game. game.gif

Actual puzzles :D

Well this is new. You can now actually use coins for something else besides just hindering your progress. Amazing. Also, I present my ultra amazing grappling hook with top notch physics. game.gif

Game is online!

Well... I am done. I would have loved to slam some music together for this, but I live in a bad timezone for Ludum Dare and I need to go to bed so I can at least act like I am not dead exhausted at work tomorrow. Anyways, if you'd like, you can take a look here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/drop

That's it for today. Bye :D

DROP made it to 1.1!

Hey there :D Some of you may played my game DROP, found here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/drop It had some very weird grappling hook physics which felt unnatural at times... well, almost always... and I didn't really like them. I just updated them and they are pretty fleshed out now. So if you haven't played my game yet or if you would like to check out the improved physics, give it a go! Thank you.

70th overall... wow.

I have to say, I didn't expect to score this high up. I'm not complaining though :D ratings.PNG

As expected, Humor and Audio are my worst categories by far, but I hardly did anything for them anyway, so that's totally understandable ^^ Again, big thanks to everyone who voted, congrats to all participants and see you next time!

Post Jam Edition of DROP is happening :D

Can't tell you a date yet, but Post Jam Edition is coming. If you want to keep up with development, I most frequently post updates on Twitter at https://twitter.com/Syrapt0r. ezgif.com-optimize.gif

I'm in!

Oh boy, another Ludum Dare. Let's do this :D

Stuff I'll use (as always): Game Maker Studio 2 for programming, sfxr/bfxr for sounds, PyxelEdit for graphics and FL Studio for music. I also plan to stream most of the weekend, so if you want to watch me, you can do so at https://www.twitch.tv/syrapt0r.

Good luck to everyone participating. Let's have a good weekend ^^

First update

So, I decided to mix educational games with horror because why not. So far I got my idea planned out and I'm implementing the first minigame now. If you want to stop by: https://www.twitch.tv/syrapt0r

Restarting.

So after coding for almost 6 hours, I realized my game will never be finished in time. So I'll not make my educational horror game, I'll focus on my other idea for a text based shooter. Restart.

Quick update
