Ludum Dare 48

Post-ludum feelings

Finally this jam is over!

On the one hand I'm tired as hell, a lot of features were cut, a lot of bugs was "fixed" in a wrong way (for example gunners shoot three bullets because of aiming issue), almost everything goes not the way I've expected.

On the other hand I'm really glad that we've finish the game and it's playable and enjoyable (hope so)

Last time (46th LD) we didn't develop gameplay at all and turn whole "game" into silly clicker... =(

But this time with another programmer (@brutor) we make a real game, pretty close to initial idea

OH and have you tried to beat the game using only one type of units? I know it is possible with swordsmans or gunners, but I couldn't do it only with wizards. Can you?

And all of your positive feedback... Well... Thank you, really! It means a lot for me!

BTW, if you didn't play our game yet, here it is: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/death-cult

Probably we wouldn't make post-ludum version or improve project somehow just because it means to make all things from scratch, there isn't a simple line of good code there.

But we definitely would make games in future (and we have three ideas so far)

Anyway your feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks all of you! This community is really great!

Bugfixes for our game (Death Cult)

Looks like we finally managed to fix resolution for our game and now it should be playable at ultra-wide resolutions. So if you wanted to play our game but couldn't do it yet because of this bug there is a good news to you!

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/death-cult

Alas, we still couldn't make web-build. For some reason it just doesn't work.

Obviously using last version of Unity wasn't good idea =|

Last 24 hours...

So it's ~24 hours till results.

I wish we had a bit more ratings, we got 49 so far.

Our programmer @brutor decided that we'll finish this game one way or another.

I've decide what we gonna do if we have some good placement.

Depends on placement we are going to: - lower than 1001: just finish the game somehow sometime. - 201..1000: finish the game in a year or so and sell it on steam for a low price (1-3$) - 21..200: finish the game in a year or so and make it as good as possible, find one more programmer and an artist, sell the game on steam for a medium price (3-7$) - 1..20: look for a publisher/investor and work on our game fulltime.

And what's your plan?

And if you still didn't see and rate our game, you are welcome! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/death-cult

Emotional

So we managed to finish a game for this Ludum Dare! I'm very glad and very tired. After LD49 when we failed to finish a game at all I was a bit upset and didn't believe that we could do it this time. But we did it!

Game and theme

This time the theme wasn't great for me. I voted against this theme because assumed that everybody will make their own "calm down stalin" kind of game. We wanted to avoid war, politics, asteroid, heat death of the universe themes.

So we tried to understand what is "inevitable". And we found that any script for a horror movie (usually) is inevitable.

First of all we set a plot for our game. Five teenagers, a hut, a cabin, a haunted house, an asylum and a mystery psycho killer.

Gameplay was a consequence of this plot.

Then 2.5 days of crunching and voila!

The name "I Know What You Did Last Ludum Dare!" was created last few hours. I know that is hard to write but it's so easy to pronounce and remember.

P.S. My wife said that we are reinvented a PacMan but without a berries (or whatever PacMan eats)

PLAY+RATE

Less then a week for play+rate games, so it's time to say "Thank you, lads!" to all of 54 participants that played and rated our game!

I think it's enough rates to make a conclusion is our game worth to be finished after the jam or it is not.

Our goals for this LD was give an answer to few questions: - is it fun to contole multiple characters in a real time - is it fun to play a pretty simple game, just like in my childhood in early 90's - could I finish all spritework in pixelart in three days

From this point I guess answer is "yes" for all these questions.

I'm really appreciate that LD community give us that opportunity all these years! Thank you all so much!

P.S. If you didn't play my game yet, you still could: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/i-know-what-you-did-last-ludum-dare

P.P.S. keep in mind that desktop version is better because it has much better scaling

Last hours

Can't wait to see ratings for our game "I Know What You Did Last Ludum Dare!"

I understand that ratings would be not as good as we wished, but anyway it's very inspiring moment! Less than a day till we start a development, redesing and rebalance this concept.

It gonna be logn and hard journey, and we wish we'll make it this time!

And what's your thoughts today about future of your projects?
