LD33

I’m in again

This will be the third time that I will be participating. I’m telling myself each time that I will try and use a different toolkit next time, but I will most likely once again use SFML and perhaps my own TGUI library.

Here is what I created previously:

LD30: Planet Resque

LD27: Racer

your LD27 game has a certain charm, I do wish you luck and may the best developer win.

First day progress

I just finished the work for the first day. I already have a monster wandering around a maze looking for energy orbs to survive and keep the area around him lit while he has to avoid contact with the humans that want to kill him.

Each time the game is played will be unique since the maze, orbs and enemies are random generated. You will be able to change settings like movement speed for both you and the humans, set the size of the maze, the amount of orbs and enemies, etc. But even with the same settings the maze will be completely different every time.

The game will probably become boring quickly since you just have to walk around and try to collect all the orbs, but hopefully the randomness will make it a bit more interesting.

Here is a screenshot of the progress so far, tomorrow I will have to finish the menu screens, improve graphics and add some audio.

Help screen

I added a simple help screen to my game.

Maze Monster

I just finished my Ludum Dare entry: Maze Monster.
The game is written in C++ with SFML and TGUI, the graphics were created with GIMP and the few sound effects were generated with sfxr.

MazeMonster

You play a monster that survives on energy orbs. Without these orbs you will stop emitting light and die. The goal of the game is to collect all the energy orbs without dying.

You also have to watch out for the humans. They think you are a dangerous monster and they will come after you and try to kill you when they see you.

The maze is generated randomly every time you play. In the menu you will be able to change the default settings and choose the size of the maze, your speed, the speed of the humans, …
But even without changing any settings each time the maze will be completely different.
