My First Jam!

I've been programming games for a while now, and I figure I may as well try my skills with a game jam. I'll be doing the jam with my friend. He'll be doing art and sound, and I'll be doing the actual programming. We will be using either paint.NET or Blender for art depending on whether we want to use 3D or 2D graphics when the theme is announced. Music will be made in Bosca Ceoil and sounds in Audacity. We'll be using Unity to put the game together. We might be streaming too on Twitch ;) . And so, our first Ludum Dare begins!

Here's my final votes!

Who I think is gonna win:

Death is useful You control the environment, not the player

Just gut instinct ;)

THE THEME SUCKS!!!

As usual, the theme sucks. womp womp...

This isnt as crazy as i thought

I thought this would be really hectic and we would always be running out of time, but that really isn't the case. We've been really relaxed, and it's been a great time so far.

Shameless Plug

Aight, so I'd really appreciate you guys playing and reviewing my jam game, The Reclaiming. :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/$101527

I'm in Part 2 Electric Boogaloo

So. Here again after the disaster in LD42. We had no idea what we were doing, but now we (kinda) know what we're doing. So, yeah. Here's what we're using:

Art - Paint.net IDE - Atom Music / sound - Ardour Programming language - Assembly

JK we're using Python and Pygame not Assembly lol

Let's do this!

I hope you're all ready, because I'm not.

The theme...

WHY GOD WHY

The Theme

Ideas started flowing after 40 minutes or so. At first, I was like "this theme sucks!" but now I'm like "this theme sucks!"

Good Luck

Just wanted to say good luck to all you compo people out there. Us jammers stil have a ways to go, but we both gotta keep up the grind. Can't wait to play all your games!

Final Day Music

As we approach the last day of the LD46 jam, I've noticed I'm listening to "Killer Queen" by Queen over and over again as I'm working, and now it's stuck in my head. What is everybody else listening to, if anything?

Finally Done!

We finally finished our game, after almost 67 hours of work. We're proud of it, and I'm excited to see what you guys think once submission is over! title.png fired.png game.png Thanks for taking a look.

Please play our game

Seriously, we lost so much in the last lawsuit that we're in desparate need of managers. Please join at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/meltdown.

As is tradition...

MAN, this theme sucks. Why on Earth did I vote for it??? What was going through my pea brain when I decided it would be a good idea to +1 this theme?? I suppose I will suffer for it, and atone for my sins by making a better game this time around...

Things are going good!

Been working hard on technical stuff while two of my teammates sleep and @bluelightning365 works on art, got procedural generation of dungeon rooms done and player traversal of those generated rooms. I'm super proud of how fast I managed it, considering I've never done procedural generation before. Frustrating, but ultimately rewarding.

Keep up the good work you guys, and pace yourselves -- Compo folks have still got 31 hours left and us Jam fellas have 65. I'm turning in right about now, as a matter of fact. Take care of yourselves, and here's to a good rest of the jam!

Cool feature, LD

I just found out that if you click on the theme name, it googles it for you. Cool feature that I will probably be using when I see non-English or unfamiliar words as themes.

Thanks, LD!

Halfway done!

I don't usually participate in the slaughter round, but I've had some time to do this recently. It's been... an experience. I'll finish, but I think I'll wait until theme voting next time.

My votes

Screenshot 2021-09-24 10.21.28 AM.png Doing the slaughter round gave me a new perspective on this. It was interesting to see what made it through. I think I might be a bit jaded :P

I'm in!

I'll probably be using Unity and Musescore + Audacity to program and make sounds and music stuff. My cohorts will be using piskel for art and, of course, trusty Google Docs for design. Good luck to all, and here's to a good Jam weekend!

The time is approaching!

It's strange that in just two short hours (and some change) a word or short phrase that will define my next 72 hours will be released. I'm excited, and also a little nervous, as my last LD didn't end up going so hot.

Anyway, good luck to you, fellow jammers! I look forward to stressposting and reading about how you all seem to already have near finished games on Friday night ;)
