How hard could it be to control a nuclear fission chain reaction?

Give it a go and let me know what you think, and how you did!

Keep on shoving those neutrons to the Uranium-235 core and see what happens!

My personal record is a bit over 14 billion kWh of energy generated using the nuclear reactor!
For any of you know enough about physics, I'm sure you'd agree that my math wasn't in any way rushed and that my equations are perfectly valid.

Give the game a go at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/uranium-236.
Leave some feedback and I'll play and rate your game as well!
You've got to be gentle with the reactor. Hold down your mouse, wriggle a bit and the core will go critical in seconds. Instead, keep feeding neutrons to the core calmly and you'll have power 'till Christmas! - Some nuclear technician, somewhere, probably.

I hope to soon have a weekend for Ludum Dare where I'm not working on both days so that I might actually get a polished game done for compo.
Well, it went to jam again, but I'm fairly satisfied with how it turned out. You can clearly hear (note, hear) where the least amount of time went.
I know everyone is still busy with submitting their games and are looking to take some time away from LD for a while, but if you do want to give it a go, here's my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/last-stand-2

If you're looking to play some more games, I'd appreciate you giving Last Stand a go!

I'm done with the first functioning prototype for The Hunt for Red April.
I was originally envisioning a submarine vs submarine game, but I think the pathfinding and related logic would be too time consuming and difficult to get right that I'm pivoting to a submarine hunting an aircraft carrier, while avoiding enemy destroyers. That way, I don't have to worry about pathfinding, collisions, etc. for AI ships.

I think this has been the first Ludum Dare where I've actually nailed the game logic during the first day. Well, now to sleep and tomorrow it's time to work on the graphics so that people other than myself can actually see and understand what's happening on the screen.

Sleep, graphics, audio & polish, here I come!
Hopefully the player "character" finally resembles a submarine.
I don't think I've ever had this much time left before. I actually have time to work on the audio instead of just spamming something quick with bfxr.

The Hunt for Red April is a submarine stealth game built around a single tension: sonar is your only way to see, but every ping you send reveals your position to the enemy.

I needed to pivot to JAM as I couldn't produce the required sound effects myself and I'm very happy with how the game turned out. This was probably the first game jam ever where I didn't have any issues with time.

Based on player feedback, and given that there's over 7 hours left before JAM ends, I decided to update the submarine to use tank controls.
You now use W/S or UP/DOWN to control the throttle and A/D or LEFT/RIGHT to turn. I do think the new controls are an improvement.
The game looks cool, but it sounds even better! Give it a try!
Comment down below if you've got a cool game you'd like me to try out!

How about taking a few minutes to try to sink the Red April?
