Can you beat my Highscore on Fire Support Survivors?

We created an arcade-like survivor game where the player tries to survive as long as possible in an enemy infested world.

  • Avoid enemies by moving tactically and knowing your surroundings
  • Build your arsenal and unlock new signals by destroying enemies
  • Upgrade existing signals for different play styles: Weaken the enemies with area control signal or aim directly at the enemies with missiles
  • Game gets more difficult the longer you play!

I made it to level 19 today by focusing on Fire Strike and Missile Strike.

Check out Fire Support Survivors and play on Itch.

Hypothesis: more missiles are needed!

FIELD UPDATE:

Missile Strike can now evolve into Missile Barrage, allowing operators to convert precision impacts into sustained saturation fire.

This has significantly increased battlefield effectiveness.

...and operator self-casualties.

Turns out one missile was not enough missiles.

We've have updated our Fire Support Survivors with a Post Jam version with - upgraded tutorial - new weapons eg Tesla Coil and the field tested Missile Barrage! - character selection!

Tutorials are always tricky to get right and only way to have any understanding is via feedback, so if you have a moment to try our new tutorial and share your thoughts, that would be great!

WHO APPROVED BUYING THE SUN!?

Not solar panels. Not a nice branded flashlight. The actual strategic concept of "what if we just dropped a star on the enemy" has apparently moved from whiteboard joke to approved battlefield expenditure.

Thousand Suns evolves the Orbital Laser into something the finance department cannot responsibly classify as equipment. It charges up like a procurement scandal, burns across the battlefield like a line item with no spending cap, and exits before anyone can ask for a receipt.

Budget damage summary:

  • Orbital Laser now evolves into Thousand Suns, which suggests someone saw one orbital laser and said, "Fine, but can it be more legally indefensible?"
  • The strike now gets a dramatic charge-up, giving Finance several seconds to scream before the invoice lands.
  • The beam sweeps through the horde with the calm confidence of a purchase order nobody read.
  • It collapses out afterward, which is convenient, because so did the quarterly forecast.
  • Survivors get a spectacular new answer to enemy pressure, while Accounting gets a spectacular new reason to update the risk register.

Orbital laser was the first weapon I implemented on LD59s second day; blueish and earth shattering ray from the sky. I'm happy to share Orbital Laser can now be upgraded into Thousand Suns which is significantly faster, and still deadly.

Unlocking Thousand Suns requires Orbital Laser lvl5 + Spike lvl 1
