Ludum Dare 57

Okay fine, they got me gal!

Casual longtime jammer here with a few languages, tools, and whacky creations under my belt under my belt.

I started my tech career doing things like game jams as a hobby, and it's rare that I can steal some time to come back to them.

Admittedly, I've been pretty busy the last several weeks, and will be traveling next week.

BUT...! Ludum Dare 57 is dare-I-say perfectly lined up with my weekend of rest at home, with an empty calendar and an appetite for making something out of nothing.

Okay, fine! I'm in.

Unsure what approach I'm going to take, but once the theme drops I'll pull together some ideas tonight and see what I can duct tape together in 48 hours. :innocent:

A prototype emerges!

I really thought it wasn't going to come together. But I'm crawling out of the weekend with a working prototype of my idea! I played around with silly libraries yesterday and got nothing done, all before throwing it away for Bun + Phaser + Vite to bootstrap a lean-and-mean prototype from scratch.

My take on "depths" was "folder depth" and that became the gameplay. Traverse a sprawling, zany company server (no two are the same and there's no working search) to find the file your boss desperately needs. Do it within a minute and become the company hero. :openfilefolder:

Visually, it's not very impressive. But the foundation so far is rock solid and now I can focus on embellishing this working prototype. Go, jam superpowers, go! :honey_pot:

We are so back!!!

With 30 minutes to spare, I have finished Ludum Dare 57!

I see a whole crew of us made folder depth-themed games, that's awesome! We should make a mini round-up of those because I want to play 'em all! :circus_tent:

My game is called Folder Depth and you can check out the full source code (including the enhancements I still want to make) in my public GitHub repository!

Great work everyone who participated, I really enjoyed checking the feed and seeing what everyone was up to while hacking away. Didn't participate this time? Join us in October, it's a whole lotta fun!

 Keep jammin', pals!

I made a game where you're a 1940s switchboard operator handling some very zany, zany calls. (🐐) Two unrelated callers ended up tangled on the same wire. Sort each line back to where it belongs.

This one continues something I've been running in the same repo. For Genuary 2026, I ran a daily creative-coding agent for 31 days — each piece shipped with its own manifesto logging what I refused, what I chose, and why, plus a daily prompt and constraint set. For LD59 I pointed the same habits at the "Signal" theme: the agent bootstrapped this weekend's Claude Code harness, looped on ideation, and prototyped several directions I threw out along the way.

The pixel art came out of a pipeline I tuned during Genuary — the agent drafts image prompts, Nanobanana on Gemini renders them, I clean up transparency in Figma and scale 2–3× down for crisp pixels.

Source code repo has the full dev trail, including every pivot, my harness skills and configs, and the tasks behind the delivery written in beads_rust.
