LD18

And Another More.

Hello!

This will be my first Ludum Dare, I hope I can manage to complete something submittable.  I’ll use flashdevelop+mxmlc.

I’m not sure why, but struggling to get an idea out of a unknown theme, with the stress of having to complete everything under 48 hours seems like a lot of fun!!

I can’t wait!!!

Lets do it!

World global awesomeness will increase a couple of points this weekend, be proud of it!

Lets have some fun!

The Idea

I finally got a good idea!

I’ll take a plane,  fly to The Bahamas and hide there for a while.

At least, I won’t have to think something original to go with the current theme :)

My brain is melting!

Pro Tip

A hot shower does wonders to put the thinking machine into production mode!

I settled on doing a shmup,  so lets see what happens!

Enough for today

I made some base code for my idea, and now, I’m going to sleep.

There is almost nothing visible up to now, and nothing of gameplay implemented, however, for the sake of the LD spirit, I’m uploading it:

http://www.swfcabin.com/open/1282369762

I hope I have a good start tomorrow,

Good nights to everyone!

Still, not too much.

After another burst of coding, I’m still with very little playable/visible things

nottoomuch

Well, I  have 1 day, 10 hours, 33 minutes, 49 seconds
to turn it into *something*

My Primitives

I hope this soon turns into something,

What kind of  something, even I don’t know…

wtf

Well, I know something, I’m not embeding anything into this swf. If I cannot make it coding, then it won’t be done.

Desperate times,
Desperate measures.

Too much for today,  I’m going to get some sleep and see what happens tomorrow.

Almost There

Well, my first LD comes to an end.

A couple of minutes before the deadline, and most of my game was incomplete.

So I added a few screens and events to wrap it up  in something like a game and I submitted it anyways.

I would feel pretty sad If after I worked all the weekend I ended up without submition, so here it is my game:

¨Enemies, (Such) as Weapons.¨

Even as I failed to myself, This was very fun!!
I really enjoyed to read the blog as everyone were progressing!  I’m definitely entering this thing again.

Good luck to everyone!

Very obvious interpretation of the theme.

Super sexy hot! XD

Sleep time

Enough for today.  I will get some sleep now and I will try to finish as much as I can tomorrow before the deadline.

Most of the gameplay still needs to be implemented, so it will be a hard day.

But lets not get depressed right now! That’s what tomorrow two hours before the deadline is for!

Last battle against the Old Man

And now I have 1 hour, 38 minutes left to get everything together.

This will be difficult…

Too sad

I uploaded it minutes after the timeline, and didn’t knew if it was in or out.

Now I’m sure that its out :(

Its feels very very bad to have rushed the last hours and fail, but well…  things that happens.

Here is the entry if anyone wants to test it anyway: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-20/?action=rate&uid=2503

Good luck to everybody!

I caught your upload panic on IRC, but was too busy to respond. I went ahead and bumped you to the compo. Go rate some entries and we’ll call it even. 😉

MiniLD #26 – Verticalland

This is my first MiniLD. The basic idea for the game is a vertical map in which the objective will be to climb to the top. For now it will be a split screen game for 2 players and the second player will also try to go to the top, but with the map inverted so it would be like descending from the perspective of the first one. They will have explosive guns to help themselves to climb, and to stop the adversary advance.

ASCII Mockup Image: (Just because its faster than opening a drawing app)

+-----goal----+-----goal----+
 |2 | 1 |
 |--------- | ---------|
 | | |
 | ---------|--------- |
 | 1 | 2 |
 +---------------------------+

Done:

The world with split screen working, the characters with guns working, and a winning state for the game.

I’m not used to decide what I will do before I do it, so this is the best I could manage. Probably a lot of things will come and go during development.

Ah, and I will be using C++ with OpenGL.

Report before lunch.

The destroyable world now works, kinda buggy, but I think that its enough for tomorrow’s build.

The next step will be to add the characters. I’ll begin working on it after lunch.

Looks impressive! I like how the level’s been generated with the colour variation, too.

Progress update

The core mechanics are kinda working for the two players and the split screen is also ok, so now I will add a win state, a title screen, and then to try to adjusts values and fix bugs before the deadline.

Btw, does anybody know at which hour its the deadline?

Verticalland submitted

My head is about to explode if I don’t get some rest, so I’m submitting it now.

I’m very glad that I could complete everything I said I should on the opening post.

You can play it here:

I’m in!

I’ll be using flexsdk with the aid of flashdevelop.

Its late enough to sleep around here, so, see you tomorrow!
