LD22

Time to make some cool games!!

So it seems I’m also in for the first time. I’m looking forward to play all the games that will be created this weekend.

My tools are:

  • Java with libGDX
  • Gimp and Kleki ( thanks to bitbof ) + Bamboo Pen
  • Sfxr and others..

Thanks to everybody who created and shared all the LD newbie guides, it really helped me prepared.

Lonely Space Marshal – Postmortem

Well this was fun!!

My game is kinda lame and it need some more work. For example it needs more than one enemy ;), more levels and a background.. I was suppose to enter the compo but I ran out of time, so I aimed for the jam.

FAIL:

  • It started with the theme. I had some ideas but they were way to big for this.
  • libGDX is a good library.. But I used it in the wrong way to start with, so 4h++ work were throw away..
  • The boss was made when it was 30 mins to go, art + code. It should be a cat but I can not make good pixelart. Not with 30 mins to go! Haha..
  • Spent to much time on details. The collision detection is horrible, it works but…. and other stuff that I am ashamed of…
GOOD:
  • I submitted something !! Yes I am really happy for that even if it is lame 😉
  • Well it is not so much art but I think I can do some good pixelart. If I have time for it.
  • I ate pretty good and drank lots of water/juice
  • Took breaks and even went to a Christmas dinner with good friends.
So overall I am happy with the result even if it needs lots of improvements. Oh, and next time (yes there will be a next time) I would not make a platformer. Why do I end up doing platformers.. Let’s play lots of games, vote and enjoy Christmas everyone!! And we will meet again next year at Ludum Dare 23!!!

Peace

50 down / 841 to go!!

LD24

YES! I’m in!

I have finally decided to join in for my second attempt!
Last time was not all failure but I can do better!

But I’m still unsure what tools I will use..

Either:
C++, OpenGL, GLFW
or
Java, LibGDX/Slick/lwjgl

I got this week to figure it all out and see which will work best ;D

Good luck to all of you and happy jamming!

Well well…

I will not finish on time but that did I know yesterday ;D
Post-mortem coming soon..

Anyway! Thanks to LD I have learned a lot. Before this weekend I had just played around with OpenGL and never tried any advanced stuff.

So yeah.. Thanks again Ludum for an awesome weekend! Too bad I can’t rate any games, but I”m looking forward to play all your games.

PS, now I got a cool Voxel level editor to play around with 😉

Peace

LD26

I’m in for a third time!

I think I’m ready and got my toolset fixed. I never used Haxe before so that will be my mission this LD.

Tools

  • Vim
  • HaxePunk
  • Gimp/Photoshop
  • Inkscape
  • And something on the Tools page for music/audio..

It’s almost 04:00 here, so I will wait for the theme and then straight to bed.

Good luck with haxe. For me using it in a project recently was sort of traumatic, it still doesn’t have enough documentation, for either the language or libs.

It’s all about tomorrow!

So yeah, I went out to celebrate a friend that turned 25.. Which means I’m a little intoxicated and waaaayy behind schedule. I got something setup, but I probably need to rethink a lot of stuff if I should get this done in time. So I will go to sleep now and get crazy tomorrow ;p (NO Hangover plz!)

I’ll hope all of you get to finish in time so I can play a lot of cool games.

Peace!

Get Rid of Shit! – Post mortem

So this was my third time entering Ludum Dare, but only my second entry.

Get Rid of Shit!

In the game, salesmen will come to your house and place shit you don’t need. So you need to get rid of it before the shit starts stacking.

GOOD

– I manage for the first time make a game under 48 hours.

– Learned Haxe.

BAD

– Time, I planned something else but I got distracted with stuff around me.

– Programmers art..

Short and sweet 😉

Now keep playing games and rate!

If you want to get better at making graphics, there are tons of pixelart tutorials on the internet! 😉
