First time ...

Ludum Dare 47 was my first experience, with some plain results. I'm comming back to LD48 to put into practice all that I learn from the past, especially to reduce scope of the game this time :D.
Normally the starting time is not so good for people in europe, so I'll have to start on early Saturday.
Good luck everyone!

Feel free to change my mind in the comments. I'd be really interested in reasons why a theme on this list would be great. If you can, give me three examples of games from three different genres, with three different core mechanics for the theme you want to defend.
I'm definitely in for the anniversary LD48!
Will try to use all my previous experience to prepare better and go small. Really want to finish something more playable.
Probably will use: * PIXI.js * TypeScript * Krita / Blender * Ableton Light / GarageBand
Let's pick the most creative theme!
These themes weren't nice.
It is open to so many interpretations that it is almost like not having a theme at all. And "Garden" is.... Just the worst!
LD as become an event, even within my house, my parents and wife are very supportive and motivate me to jump into this madness that makes me happy. As an older software engineer, I notice how this has helped me getting new skills and learning new tools (Blender, Audacity, Unity).
Now preparing for my third round, I took a minute to think on what I need to improve: practice specific code, been efficient in game design. Keeping in mind not be to hard on myself.
I wanted to share this and ask: how do you work on improving your skills, any special inspiration or role models? What would you do different? For me it would be: keep it simple.
Finally, I'll be able to join a Ludum Dare! I've joined several game jams in the past, but never a Ludum Dare. It just never seemed to fit my schedule. This time however it fits perfectly! And on LD48 of all events! I'll try compo since it's a classic. I mainly use the Godot Engine, but I want to try Pico-8 for this jam. That way I can limit my scope from the get-go and do a bit of everything. I can't wait!
This is my first game jam
Hiya hi! My name is Simul (Espeon#0001 on Discord), and I'm most definitely a newcomer to the Ludum Dare and... jams as a whole! Ludum Dare 48 will be my first GameJam ever, eheh!
I'm a programmer and story designer coming from Oklahoma heavily inspired by the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, and man is this somethin' amazing! I've spent two years now preparing for ideas like this through trade school, and now I can't wait to get started! I'm proud to be in such a large community of game creators like me, and I'm happy that I'll be able to finally join you all in four and a half days!
For this competition, I'm being joined by my great friend Kereli! (@kereli)
Together, we've been planning for some time now to create a long-term project with each other, and this definitely is quite the preparation and team-building for us I'd say! We're both big fans of many things together, and I can't wait to see what we can come up with!
But hey, thank you all for having me! I'm happy to be a part of this month's Jam, and I wish everyone involved good luck! I hope I can use this experience to make myself a better developer as a whole, and that we all have the best time possible! Have a wonderful day! :D

Obviously the best theme due to this xkcd: https://xkcd.com/378/
Hey, first time im trying this out, im interested in joining a team in this game jam!
I can do music/sound/sound fx i have worked in Ableton live for years and i also have experience with Fmod, Wwise and blender.
ill link some of my work below:
https://youtu.be/AXensfP9pAY - theme tune i made for an upcoming game
https://youtu.be/KgRoug4KpAI - cover i made of a mario kart tune
https://soundcloud.com/jakob-eriksson-959279565/tmnt-cancelwe - theme tune for a canceled game
https://soundcloud.com/jakob-eriksson-959279565/jazzy - original funky tune
i have also done some sound effects work, here is a short example of a dub over a doom trailer - https://youtu.be/VpD1odWnSbU
Such a theme... Only after we have "Usability" or something as the theme... Otherwise playing and rating is gonna be a disaster...
It could be a beautifull theme with many interpretation !

Hello everyone, I'm a high school student from the United States and I've done a few Itch.io game jams but this will be my first Ludum Dare and I'm so excited! I'll be using Godot to make my game. The most interesting themes so far imo are "Automation", "Instructions Unclear" and also "Clockwork", but I can't wait to see what themes round 3 has. Good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone. I don't know if I am the last one who can be positive, but these themes are just amazing. Why so many bad reviews? I hope that one of them will be chosen by the community so that I can do something creative. There is everything in those themes. Let's go further ++
Мне всё равно какую тему выбирают. Во всяких условиях будет удовольствие моё.

Like many others, we are glad to announce that we will be crawling out of our caves once more to participate in another Ludum Dare. Unlike last time, however, we have decided to stream our full development process, 24/7, from the initial brainstorming to hitting the publish button!
As you may imagine, streaming the development process with all its ups and (mainly) downs will be a huge step for us, but we are in for a wild ride and are ready to enjoy this journey together.
We will be starting with our stream two hours before theme announcement, so if you are interested in chatting and arguing about the bad themes that made it through theme voting this time, feel free to join us early! For our streaming schedule, follow us on twitter. We will be posting updates as soon as possible!
Enough rambling, if you want to join us on our journey towards another hopefully fun and enjoyable game, make sure to follow us on twitch!
