Make it work, then make it pretty

I see a lot of people who are stressed out right now, so I'll show you my baby girl again to brighten up your day a little bit IMG_4355.jpeg

LD58 finished ! Florence Memories

Florence Memories

A meditative cloud-watching game about collecting memories from the sky.

BG_Menu.png

The Story

On a beautiful sunny day, a family goes hiking together. They find the perfect spot — a soft patch of grass overlooking the sky — and lie down to watch the clouds drift by.

As they gaze up at the endless blue, something magical happens. The clouds begin to form shapes: a teddy bear, a butterfly, a rainbow. Each shape sparks a memory, a dream, or a moment of love.

"Can you see it?"

Theme: Collection

Florence Memories embodies the Ludum Dare 58 theme through:

  • Collecting Fleeting Moments: Like watching clouds drift by, you're gathering treasures that won't last forever
  • Building Stories: Each of the 12 memories represents something special — from adventures in nature to cozy moments at home
  • Preserving Wonder: The collection mechanic asks you to be patient and attentive, just like lying in the grass and marveling at the world

The Journey

This is a game about slowing down. About being present. About the simple joy of lying in the grass with the people you love and watching the world drift by.

As you watch the sky, clouds will form into shapes — 12 unique memories waiting to be discovered. A teddy bear. A butterfly dancing on the breeze. A rainbow promising adventure. Each one is a fleeting moment of wonder, highlighted for just a few seconds before it fades back into the sky.

Click on them during their brief window of light, and watch as they transform into memories in your family scrapbook. Each memory has a story — little moments of love, dreams, and the beauty of everyday life.

The journey takes about 5-10 minutes, but there's no rush. The clouds will keep drifting. The sky will keep waiting. This is a moment to breathe, to wonder, and to remember what it feels like to simply be with the people beside you.

When you've collected all 12 memories, the sky has one final gift waiting for you.

Play Florence Memories and collect the memories from the sky!

Why We Love Ludum Dare

There's something magical about game jams. The creative rush, the tight deadlines, the challenge of turning a single theme into something playable in just 48 hours. I absolutely love participating in Ludum Dare events — they push me to experiment, to tell stories I wouldn't normally tell, and to create experiences that come straight from the heart.

This jam was special. This time, I wanted to make something peaceful, something personal, something that captures a perfect moment in time.

Want to see more? Check out my other Ludum Dare games and past game jam entries — each one a unique experiment, a different story, a new challenge conquered in 48 hours!

Voice acting

I'm dying of cringe but I got it done. My game will be fully voice acted. Not voice acted well, but it's in. Screenshot 2025-10-06 085954.png

Phew! I did it in time!!

RelicaScreen00.jpg

Relica is 'done'! Missed a few features, but got in more than last time and more than I expected! Again using my custom low level C++ engine!

Check it out here https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/relica

Download from Itch (sorry no browser, windows only): https://katastudios.itch.io/relica

Features completed: - collectible relics - moleman characters - basic combat - shopkeepers with some personality - 1 utility item - 1 wearable cloak - 2 weapons - 4 hats - the castle map - shop assets - dungeon map - dungeon generation - nightmare wolf enemy - lil' guys (see title pic) - saving and loading progress - difficulty ramp - hats give beneficial status effects

Features not completed: - I wanted to tweak the wolf more to make it creepier and splay out more - multiplayer is partially implemented - more weapons would be nice - map generation is limited - didn't have time to fully implement the day cycle, ended up reduced to just incrementing the day after you leave the dungeon. - shop items have no rarity, everything is equally likely to show up - needs more bug testing lol

Now it's 6AM and I got to get up in a few hours! Good night!

Animation is a Beach

so we have been finalizing all the tiles for the last stretch of the game while our coders are hard at work. i've been adding silly references for people to find on the map just for a little fun !

oh lord he comen.png

Alot of tiles in, and it was suggested that there be a few animated tiles for the game. never done any animation at all I had a quick look at a tutorial (and thankfully very small tiles, so it's basically pixel art) ive managed to do an animated tile mermaid sing2.gif Who says Ludum Dare doesn't teach you lots of new stuff in a short time eh

Finished!

Yay, finished the game. And this time with time to spare, check it out :)

Retrospective - Flight Terminal Assistant

Hi all,

I've been thinking about a few things that would have helped me do better.

  • Smaller Scope
  • Code Generator has slices
  • Code snippets for my common loops and data initializers
  • Taking a quick 10 minute "Meditation" break or quiet time.
  • Focusing on the main loop and making that solid first.

What things could you have done differently to do better?

Finally finished my compo game

Ld58GameplayGIF2(2).gif Good luck to all the other jammers! It's never easy to create something complete in just 48 hours but it's always worth it. Had a blast working on this one. Hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed building it. :)

Is this not a 3D?!

I have been asked this question sooo many times

Technically, it's 3D, but it's just an imitation of 3D model :D

I made it by creating two sprite objects and merging them with a C# script.

In detail: the script generates a mesh in runtime between two sprites.Once it defines geometry it starts mapping UV for side material and keeps repeating this process until it reaches the opposite edge

Q: Is this better to create a 3d model of coin?

A: Nah :D This way is much funnier!

So go play the game and see it for yourself!
