Ludum Dare 58 October 3–6, 2025

The game is finished! Our first Ludum Dare postmortem.

Well, no game is ever truly finished, but I think our game is good enough at this point :)

We're a team of two. I was responsible for programming, and my wife took care of the art. We're closer to 40 than to 30, so we didn’t struggle too hard.

I checked the theme on Saturday around 10–11 AM. We talked a little bit about ideas, then decided to cook dinner (I made a pretty decent spaghetti Bolognese) and had more discussions along the way. We started working at around 4 PM and kept going until about midnight.

The next day (Sunday), we worked on the game some more, but also took a long walk with our dog and went to sleep around 11 PM.

Today, we did some polishing, playtesting, tweaking, and bug fixing.

I think we did a pretty good job. We work in the game industry (actually, we run our own small studio), so we basically did what we do almost every day, just without all the real-world stress.

The game does what we aimed for in general, although the tower defense aspect is pretty weak, as we couldn’t quite figure out how to integrate it properly with our Lovecraftian theme.

Please take a look and leave some feedback!

*I have no idea how to embed the links properly :P

What if TSA agents were klepto?

Our team of five made Security Check, an inventory management game about a kleptomaniac TSA agent trying to pay off his crippling gambling debt. Play through our three levels with three diverse item sets and try getting to both endings!

Don't forget to do your job! Knifes, water bottles, and local fauna still need to be confiscated!

Check it out and let us know your thoughts!

Final Buppo 64

buppo1.png

Wrapped development up last night, we weren't able to spend that much time on the game this jam for real life reasons, but it was fun putting something together anyway.

Our game features some async online components, so we really appreciate people checking it out and adding to our player data for future players!

Hello world!

Yc03Qf.png Hello world, the game is already published and this is our first Ludum Jam. It was a terrible three days in which I slept little and didn't get anything done. We'll be judging.

Me not

Well , i failed :) failed because I tried , I learned and I played around too longs experimenting.

I want to create reddit game , but was not sure about front-end(game) framework. So I tried to use Unity , but after half a day understood that reddit is not yet ready to deliver Unity games. So started looking for other options. I do not want to use some complicated game engine and I do not want to learn new html5 game engine.

So i checked how www.openfl.org is doing. And guess what - it has typescript support! Reddit backend runs on typescript too! So I spend weekend experimenting , reading reddit docs and remembering OpenFl framework. My goals is almost reached - to prepare framework for reddit game for my projects. Also I was a bit too lazy (or too old ) to hurry.

Pushed my project to github.com/Celsyum/world-collector :v: but its longs way before I cleanup and prepare for normal usage, It works for me , but not yet for you :) give me some time

cheers and good luck :medal:

My Goals

My first goal which is participating is complete now my second goal i.e. beating my ~200th place record :D

Postmortem - Ludum dare 58.

This was my second Ludum Dare that I participated in. I registered for this full of excitement. Barely slept for 4 hours the last two days, just to bring every feature into reality. The 3rd day of this event, college caught up to me and I couldn't work on anything. Completely drained after coming back, I still decided to work on the game. But as and when I kept playtesting it after adding new features, unexpected bugs kept creeping in. I started to realize my code had lots of flaws. Apart from that, a few of the features that I wanted to implement in my game were not implemented yet.

It honestly stings - so much efforts gone to waste. Nothing to show on the page.

Maybe next time I'll plan smaller and try to cross the finish line. All the best to the other participants!

I've failed again!

Second Jam and second failure. At least for the jam entry. For my defense, I had to work on Saturday and Monday which took away so much time and energy. I'm too exhausted to continue on working. Perhaps I'm aiming to submit in the "extra" category, so I can try to make a more polished (and functional!) game.

Congratualtions everybody who crawled till the end!

After a few long bunker nights, CANNED is finally… well, sealed. I’m at the final stage — fixing small things, balancing light, polishing texts, and making sure the fridge hums just the right amount of existential dread.

CANNED started as a simple survival loop — pick up cans, go to sleep. But somewhere along the way, it turned into a story about monotony, fear, and comfort in routine. Now the player collects cans not just to live, but to keep their sanity from slipping into the fluorescent dark.

I’m currently:

tightening the sanity & light balance (too bright = bad, too dark = worse),

rewriting text fragments so they sound more like thoughts than dialogue,

making sure every pickup and trigger feels meaningful,

and fighting Unity’s new Input System like it’s another boss fight.

It’s strange — I wanted to make a survival parody, but it somehow became the most honest game I’ve made about work, isolation, and hope.

What’s Next

I’m uploading the build to itch.io soon. After that, I’ll take a break… maybe even step outside and see some real light. Until then, I’ll keep polishing the tuna.

TL;DR: CANNED — a darkly comedic survival micro-horror about cans, light, and losing your mind — is almost done. Final tweaks now, release incoming. Now let's play each other games! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/canned

Visual Style Inspiration

In fact

When I was brainstorming the concept and visual direction at the start of the jam, I remembered Eve’s music video “Ghost Avenue.” It became a key inspiration for the game’s look and the styling of the UI elements.
