Did you get a chance to stretch yet?

Doctors worldwide agree that is important to stretch, especially after sitting long hours in front of a PC.

1, 2, 3 and stretch forward, 1, 2, 3 and stretch up, 1, 2, 3 and stretch right, 1, 2, 3 and...

Criminally Underrated Games - Part 1

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a blast trying out all these crazy creations! :)

I figured I would write a few blog posts to bring attention to a few games I think deserve a lot more attention than they're getting now. Without further ado, and in no particular order, here's some currently underrated games you should check out!

(Click on the titles to go to each game's page)

Save the Reactor

Authors: MaximBegunov (@maximbegunov), Astrobionics (@astrobionics), and Tvorojok (@tvorojok)

savethereactor.png

Description: This exceptionally well-crafted game has you keeping an eye on the reactor control panel while the guy in charge of it goes off for a bit. Bad luck strikes when it all goes south while you're in charge. (But don't worry, the guy assured us "it's not very complicated!")

The gameplay consists of managing several interactive elements simultaneously, each using a different input method (mouse and keyboard in many different ways). It's all about multitasking and juggling different controls at the same time, and it's easier said than done!

It's actually quite challenging and exciting, and the beautiful art, banging soundtrack and sharply crafted interactions make every click and every button press satisfying and meaningful, and the immersion is guaranteed.

All this together with the excellent take on the "unstable" theme makes this a great entry for the Jam sorely in need for more plays!

CandleLight

Authors: Chacharl (@chacharl), Mathis Bressaud (@mathis-bressaud), and PaulLyaudet (@paullyaudet)

candelight.png

Description: An exceptionally executed game based on a great concept, with beautifully rendered graphics. In this puzzle platformer game you control a living candle trying to escape a dark dungeon/castle.

The sounds, graphics, level-design and gameplay are all done very well and coherently, playing on the concepts of the candle's function, and it's a great rewarding experience to go through it all. Clearly a game made with a lot of love.

Go give the authors some love back and go play & rate their game. I promise you won't regret it!

Unstable(d)

Author: minibobbo (@minibobbo)

unstabled.png

Description: In this super cute game with NES-inspired graphics and sound, you control a little donkey that is just stubbornly trying to escape to the forest. But the farmers who kept you locked at the stable are not letting you get away so easily!

Don't be fooled by the deceptively simple initial gameplay concept. There's a lot to love about this game, with plenty of charm and humor, and some interesting layered gameplay for the overall experience. The animations are all very smooth too.

This is a super polished game and a cute creative take on the theme. You'll love playing with this donkey by the end of it!

Quantum Qitty

Authors: Jamphibious (@jamphibious), DFree (@dfree), and Mr.developer (@mr-developer)

468e0.png

Description: In Quantum Qitty, you control a cat with quantum tunneling powers! A masterwork of game creation all around, the game is a challenging puzzle platformer which require a lot of skill to use the power correctly, especially because you create an instability every time you use the power, which introduces a very interesting mechanic.

The art and music here are both outstanding and thematically relevant, and I beg of you to pay attention to the cat sprite because it's so well made and animated! The controls are impeccable and extremely rewarding to get the hang of.

I'm a physicist and this game has my seal of approval! Go check it out!

That's it for now. I'll post the next set tomorrow!

So keep an eye on the underrated games! There's plenty of hidden gems to dig through in the next couple of weeks. :D

Any physicists or engineers around?

My personal record is a bit over 14 billion kWh of energy generated using the nuclear reactor!

For any of you know enough about physics, I'm sure you'd agree that my math wasn't in any way rushed and that my equations are perfectly valid.

Am i meant to show off my game here?

Blingfix

Okay, so I managed to fix the bugs in the game. Got sidetracked along the way, so it took a while. I took an effort to keep things as they were. I left the game inbalanced with lot of tedious little things I wanted to fix. things I did fix: the attrocious delay that took place between enemy starting turn and actually finishing playing the card, auto targeting attack cards when there's only one enemy left, and I did add about four variants of the cards, otherwise the game wouldn't load (no added functionality, just a few YAML file lines.) Do with it as you will, take it into account as you will in your rating. I don't reckon I'll score anywhere high this time around since the game is very much incomplete.

I have no idea when the next update will be out, but I'll make sure to brag about it when it is.

In the meantime, have some nice days/nights.

Grab a friend and see who is faster!

Grab your friend and your :keyboard: and see who get's faster through the obstacle course! You win as soon as you are two rooms in front of your opponent.

The riskier you play the faster you can be - but also the higher the chance that you get to know the sawblades and have to start at the beginning of the room again! Good luck

The easiest game at the Jam

What if you happened to be in a control room of a nuclear reactor and something went wrong? In this game you have an opportunity to fully experience these emotions! Yeah, and prepare for things to get tense, because the reactor control panel is not a toy for you, and every element here is of vital importance. And do not forget to boil the kettle to relieve your head after a hard day with a cup of hot tea. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/save-the-reactor ScreenRecorderProject21_1.gif https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/save-the-reactor

WebGL is for everyone!

I HAVE A MESSAGE HERE FOR EVERYONE AND HOPE I COULD BE HEARED!

oKFKLYJw.png

I have noticed that a lot of people here doesn't attach WebGL builds to their games pages, and thats really disgusting! It's not a problem to publish webgl build at all, but if you have it, it increasing the chance that more people could play your game. As it doesn't require any specific platform as Windows, MacOS or Linux. Of course I don't say nothing about mobile games. It mostly could be Android game, but really, if you are going to create desktop game, please post WebGL build too! - Here is pretty clear unity manual about how WebGL project could be built: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/webgl-building.html - The easiest way to publish you game is to post it here: https://itch.io/developers Here you can create a page for your game, load a .zip archive with your WebGL build and even COLLECT SOME DONATIONS! - Then you will just need to attach link to your itch.io page to your LD Jam game page and TA-DAAAA, it's done!

Now everyone could play and rate your game without downloading tons of builds!

THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION!

P.S. you could also check out our LD 49 game (yep, it has WebGL build :)) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/nuclear-routine Screenshot 2021-10-08 at 22.13.26.png
