LD26 April 26–29, 2013

First Ludum Dare

So… I’ve never actually made anything more than a really simple text based game. I’ve attempted it before, but never got around to finishing anything. I’d like to try to enter the Ludum Dare this time, but it depends on how busy my weekend turns out to be. Also, as much as I like potatoes, I really do not want to have to have my first actual game titled “LEGEND OF THE POTATO” or something similar.

I’m in!

Somewhat late… since this is my first “I’m in” post ever (and I’ve already taken part of a few compos). xD

Here’s what I’ll be using:

  • IDE: FlashDevelop
  • Language: as3
  • Framework: Flixel
  • Graphics: GIMP (and maybe, but most likely not, Pickle)
  • Sounds: sfxr
  • Music: LMMS
  • Others: I’ll probably use my own tilemap editor… if I use tilemaps at all

I’ll try to focus on not wasting a lot of time on drawing and… well, I don’t really know… making stupid choices, maybe… xD

Let’s all have a great time and make games! =D

I’m in :)

Here are the tools I’m going to use.

A peeler
eplucheur-pomme-de-terre

A fryer
friteuse-electrique-fr-6-lt-2532469

Good luck everybody! And do not forget to have fun :)

I’m/We’re In.

Entering LD once again. The jam this time, Since I’m working with a team.

Language:GML/Game maker most likely.
Art: Paint.net
Music: Autotracker
Sounds: SFXR

Good luck to everyone!

I am going Lone Ranger!

So after participating 3 times with my LD team ( ConflictiveLabs ) I’ve decided to go solo this round, mostly because I won’t be home and also my mind is a bit tired so I don’t think I can handle 3 days of massive game creation.

For the type of game, I guess I’ll have to wait for the official theme.

For my work tools I’ll use:

Programming: Monkey ( maybe with flixel ).

IDE: JungleIDE.

Gfx: Pixen ( yeah, I love pixel art )

Sound: cfxr ( the mac versión of sfxr )

Music: I don’t know, probably steal something from a free assets library.

I guess that’s all.

Good luck to everyone!

I’m in

Alright, this is going to be a rough one for me since I’ll be at a developer conference part of the day Saturday but I’m doing it.  For tools, I’ll probably make a game using Coffeescript and Crafty.js, using vim and chrome for development and debugging.  For sound, sfxr and audacity are my poison of choice.  I tend to go Paint.NET for graphics but I’m kinda starting to like Pickle, we’ll see.  OR, depending on the theme, I may attempt to make a game using nothing but a potato.  It’s up to fate.

1st Timer Going In!

This is going to be my first LD.

I will be using Slick2D together with Eclipse Java, Paint.net and Pickle for graphics, Fruity Loops for music and Audacity for sound effects. Due to other activities I will not be able to put my full time into this, but I should still be able to get something together!

Here’s to hoping I make something productive!

I’m in.

I have decided, once again, to enter the ludum dare jam. I have made posts declaring my entrance in the past, but I am normally quickly overwhelmed by my lack of programming experience/knowledge and end up producing absolutely nothing.

So here I am, ready to maybe actually get something done, even if I fail to complete it!

Now, my tools:

Language: JAVA
Framework: Slick2D & LWJGL
IDE: Eclipse
GFX: Pickle, Pyxel & Paint.net
SFX: sfxr
Music: FL Studio & Audition

And, of course, the ceremonial “I’m in” post would not be complete without a picture of my current workspace:

Current Setup

Wish me luck! And a good luck to you!

 P.S.
POTATO!

Edit: I failed to mention that I will be entering the jam.
Edit 2: I will also be streaming via twitch.tv

Giving it a go

Alright, I’m in.  I’m exceptionally rookie at all of this, so we’ll see what I can crank out this weekend.  Unity3D, no libraries or codebase to speak of except a couple  practice games and my reference books.  Standard tools.

Have a potato video.

Oh yeah, I’m in!

With all the potato craziness, I forgot to announce this fact!

I’m in for my 6th(!) Ludum Dare. I plan to use Haxe + NME + HaxePunk to make a game for web and mobile devices. I’ll use GraphicsGale or GIMP for art, bfxr and audacity and maybe something else for sound, and caffeine to keep me awake.

Have fun everyone! Remember: #NoPotato #YesMeat

I’m in but for one day only

I won’t be able to use Saturday and I wasn’t going to join, but enough people seem to have the same problem. I guess I should just man up and join.

Tools:

Engine/Environment:

  • Unity3d (C#)
  • 2dToolkit

Music/Sounds:

  • bfxr, sfxr, inudge, audacity, guitars, loopy, propellerhead figure, thumbjam, audiobus

Graphics:

  • Pyxel Edit, Photoshop, btfont, dafont.com, others I forgot (I’ll add later)
  • Spine

Streaming and Timelapse:

  • Will stream to twitch.tv/roaet
  • Will have timelapse

I personally feel very uninspired by ‘potato’ and would probably not make a game based on that theme if it happened to succeed.

In like Flynn!

Flynn of Flynn’s Arcade, of course. After the fun of LD25 I’m playing again!

omega500

Will be usin':

Unless the theme is potatoes: then I’ll be making a command line text adventure game.

I’m in — First Timer

I’ve been wanting to give ludum dare a try for a while now.

I’ll probably be using flixel in AS3 and the flashdevelop IDE.

Graphics are likely to be in Paint.net and/or Gimp.

Sounds from bfxr.

Music ?????

Here’s hoping all goes well for everyone!

Sounds like my exact toolkit! For music I just work with a composer (say, from the Newgrounds Audio Portal) and only qualify for the jam. :p

We’re in, with or without potatoes!

Discussions about potatoes made me hungry… So I’m in LD 26, with two friends :)

This time we’ll use :

Mind map : Xmind
Game engine : Unity 3D
3D : Blender + Pixexix
GUI : Paint.NET
Sounds : usfxr
Music : abundant-music.com
Food : potatoes

And as a bonus here is a tribute to potatoes :

Have fun everyone!

I will go again….without fail I guess…

Last time I didn’t do anything at all. Too much doubts and… laziness (Begone, you evil bug!!). But this time, I plan to do something for real. I don’t care if I make a crappy game, but it will be a game. So I’m in. Well, my tools of choice are as follow:

  • Paper and Pencil: The almighty warriors.
  • GM:S Professional: The last time I made a game here was with GM 8.1 (thas was the game I made on LD#23), so it’s a change.
  • Bfxr: Everybody know it well.
  • GraphicsGale: This time I will use this image tool. Generally I use GIMP but I make pixel sprites, so better use a proper tool for it.
  • PXTone: I still don’t know how to make a proper music, but I can jam! Hahaha!!

Now let’s get started!

I’m in #standard

Ludum Dare #24 was my first game jam, an experience I found most enjoyable. Sadly, I couldn’t make it to its 25th edition. However, unless something major happens, I’m totally in for Ludum Dare #26. Aiming at respecting tradition I shall post my arsenal of choice, this is as follows.

  • Environment: Java + Eclipse.
  • Libraries: libgdx & friends, maybe something from my codebase.
  • Graphics: Inkscape, TexturePacker and Flash if I require animations.
  • Audio: Audacity and the dodgy effects produced by sfxr.
  • Others: depending on game details I could use Tiled for level design, Photoshop.

The goal is to finish a game that sucks as less as possible while retaining my mental sanity and some physical health. That means going for a jog each day and keeping the caffeine intake under control.

Keeping things short, I’ll be posting progress updates on Twitter all weekend and a proper postmortem article will follow.

I’m in

I’m in.

This will be my first Ludum Dare living in Melbourne.

I have always done Ludum Dare in AS3 using FlashDevelop but I’d like to give JavaScript a go.

If I use JavaScript I’ll code in Sublime Text 2.

I have very little experience with coding in JS so I may chicken out and go the Flash route.

If my art isn’t procedurally generated, it will be in Paint.NET as I don’t have PhotoShop on this laptop and my tower is

still in the Mountains.

Next Ludum Dare I plan to have a different machine (most likely a Surface Pro for it i5 and Wacom Pen) and I will likely use PhotoShop a lot for that.

I have been reading a lot about NodeJS and maybe will try and package my game as an executable using NodeWebkit

I’d be very impressed with myself if I could implement some kind of networking (not gonna happen).

Very much looking forward to the jam.

Obligatory desktop photo

So, this is one of the places where potato games will come from  (click on images for larger size):

Everything here is old or antiquated.

There's always some sheet music on my desk. In this case, Taffanel & Gaubert flute method.

IM IN!

Ok guys, here goes nothing, I’m in. I will be using Stencyl again, or Unity. ASEPRITE. I might  be going to crash space to build my project so meet me there.

If its creation and destruction I’m going to make a fun multiplayer game where the first player has to build a city while the second player has to slow him down from doing it, special power ups and stuff.

If its mirrors I’m going to make a game where you have to position mirrors properly to get a laser to a point. therefore winning the game

If its Island i am going to make “Jesus The Crocodile 2” or Im going to make a Full game that i am going to continue after the project called “MiniWorld”
