LD32 April 17–20, 2015

I’m in!

It’s been a while since my last jam, or any sort of full on development really.

Should be interesting, I’ve got a bit more professional of a programming background now, gonna see how that translates into GameMaker: Studio. I’ll probably fall back on sfxr for sound as well. Maybe even some vector graphics?

Can’t wait to start, best of luck everyone!

I’m in for the LD32 Jam

As always, I’d love to spend some time on this over the weekend.  I’ve been working on a non-game project lately that I’m hoping to get to a good point before the weekend though so that I don’t spoil my momentum on that.  I’ll be playing with my usual tools:

Hardware: Macbook Pro, MPK25 keyboard

Game Engine, Languages, & Tools: Unity 3D, C#, Xamarin Studio

Libraries & Frameworks: Vectrocity, Spine, Grids Library for Unity

Graphics & Art: Corel Painter 12, Photoshop CS, Blender 2.7, Spine

Music & Audio: Ableton 9

Let’s Do This!

This is my first Ludum Dare. I’m totally psyched!

Checking In

Hello, everyone!

I’m just checking in to the game jam. I’ll be using the following tools for the jam:

-Unity 5

-Blender

-Photoshop

I have two years of experience in making games, but I’ve never participated in a game-jam before 😛

My goal is to prototype a cool mechanic/premise and then expand it into a full game. I’m at a creative plateau currently, so having a big deadline will definitely get the creative juices flowing.

Good luck, everyone!

My first LD!

So, I am russian student, interested in participating. Will try to do my best! 😀

My tools are: Java as language and Eclipse as IDE, paint w/ Photoshop for drawing.

Hope I will finish it, because sometimes I am too lazy to do anything…

Good luck!

Im in

Hello

First ludum dare for me.

Using SDL2 , and hope to come up with a game that dont need much graphics.

Good luck everyone

I’m in for some Voxel-y goodness

This will be my second Ludum Dare. I’ll be using Unity3D and Voxwell to help with rapid building/prototyping. I’ve got a lot more experience since the last time I participated, hopefully that shows in my finished game. I’m still worried about making acceptable music and sfx! Any tips?

Good luck, have fun!

I’m in, for the 4th time!

I’m very excited about Ludum Dare (my 4th time). Not sure If I like most of the themes, but it’s not about liking the theme, it’s about making a game!

My weapons of choice are Unity (not sure whenever 2D or 3D), Adobe PS and probably something like BFXR and Audacity for audio.

That’s it. See ya in the TOP 100 :)

I’m In!

Well, I’m in this time, nothing out of the ordinary to be honest, let’s just hope that this event’s theme is better than notoriously bad themes such as “Minimalism” and “10 seconds”. For once, I’m actually sort of doing what the keynote says, as this is the first time that I’m using my game engine for Ludum Dare (the third time I’ve used it) and it has been released under open source recently. While there are some unpublished changes, I will be using the public version so I can do the Compo, and more importantly, so others can actually learn how to use Scorpio 3D from my source. That said, I will also likely use these extra classes and this shader that have not made it into Scorpio 3D’s current version, so I’ll post a link to them too so you guys can use them.

Scorpio 3D: https://github.com/GravityGames/scorpio3d

Extra Classes and Shaders: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/29071079/Scorpio3DLDExtraClasses.zip

Good luck to everyone, and if you decide to use Scorpio for anything, Ludum Dare or otherwise, shoot me an email at therealgravitygames on gmail, I’d love to hear from you!

EDIT: Accidently left out a class. Added and reuploaded. If you’re wondering, FontSpec loads fonts generated in BM Font from this very site, and is a class created for my current WIP game, “Chomp Hoppers”, and will likely later be used in “Chomp’s Wacky Worlds” and “Kyle the Caiman”. BM Font is towards the bottom of the tools section.

Using my library on the compo

what are the rules about using personal libraries on the compo?

As long as you publish them before the compo online it’s okay. But you can’t use a “personal personal” library just for you.

Actually, if I remember correctly, so long as the code is shared for others to use, personal libraries, engines and even base code is perfectly fine. That’s what I did for Bytt Strikes Back and no one got mad about it.

What about: “You’re free to use any tools or libraries to create your game. You’re free to start with any base-code you may have. At the end, you will be required to share your source code. *”

So as long as you share your personal lib. I think this is okay according to the rules.

Thank you! An will it be fine if I post a download link once and update the download file without re posting every time?

Yasss! We’re in again

I’ve been resting in the last few days by just playing video games and sleeping. Nothing more. Preparing myself for the next Ludum Dare. :)
I think we’ll stick with Unity 5, but that may change after the theme gets announced.
And of course we’ll use all tools that we find useful.

You can check out our LD32 game here: http://ludumdare.sakergames.com/

Have fun! Good luck to all of you!

im in, again!

last time I participated in LD31, and it was a blast. I gave Rust a first time try, and it worked surprisingly well. I would use it again for this LD, but i’m waiting for the libraries I used to stabilize :)

this time around, I’ll be using C, and streaming my progress at www.hitbox.tv/blockers . i’ll shoot for the compo this time around, but i may have to come in as a jam.

looking forward to seeing what you guys make!

I’m in!

Wow, you haven’t seen that title before!

Well, gonna do this (for the 3rd time).

STUFF I’M USING:

  • Logic: Construct 2
  • Graphics: Paint.NET, Flash, and maybe Blender
  • Sound: SunVox and FamiTracker
  • Entertainment: Reddit and TF2

I PROMISE I WILL LEARN HAXE BY THE NEXT LD (I’ll probably forget)

Here’s my “setup” I can’t find my camera

Also, I might stream on Twitch.tv

I’m Looking at Haxe, Unity, and Java LWJGL. There are so many options.

I’m in – for the 3rd time!

Throwing my hat in the ring – I’m in again for LD#32.

Had a great time competing in the jam for the last two – I’ll probably be in the jam again as 72 hours is just a lot more reasonable for me. Apart from the timeline, I intend to follow the compo rules so in case of a miracle I’ll submit as a compo entry.

Using my usual toolkit:

  • Unity – I’m brave and so am going to upgrade to Unity 5 Personal the night before the jam
  • Monodevelop for C#
  • GIMP or maybe Photoshop
  • AutoTileGen, if the need arises
  • one of those sfxr tools for sound effects- I often use as3fxr just for the sake of being able to it in browser
  • iPad and a bunch of software on there for music
  • Audacity

Any fonts, etc will probably be grabbed from the Unity asset store.

I’m not certain where the game will go, but for both of the previous LDs I’ve participated in I’ve ended up using Aron Granberg’s A* library so I might as well set the expectation that I’ll be doing so again.

I’m In

This will be my first ludum dare, and my first game outside of various unpublished prototypes. For the jam I will be using:

– Phaser.js

– Brackets

– sfxr

– pixelartor

Excited for a child-free dev weekend!

In for Compo

I’m doing the competition. First time for me!

Engine: Unity 4

Language: C#

Sound: sfxr and a little digital recorder and some stuff around the apartment

Art: Graphics Gale and Photoshop

GLHF;

Let’s do it! I hope the theme will be suitable for a tower defence game… because we really want to make a tower defence game! Once again we’ll use Java, but this time, we have got a framework or something like that. It’s not finished at all, but I think it’ll work.

Starring:

  • Java and GabeNgine as The Platform
  • IntelliJ Idea as The IDE
  • Photoshop as The Photo Editor
  • Google as Mister Omniscient
  • Mumble as The Communicator

I’m looking forward to see all the amazing games!

I’m In, +Round 4 Votes

So I haven’t liked these last two rounds of voting, why not share the last one?

Anyway, semi-obligatory “I’m in!” post. This will be, I believe, my fourth Ludum Dare. I’ll most likely be forgoing my current games library in favor of LibGDX since I’ve recently re-introduced issues and bugs into mine.

I’ll be using:

  • Java for the engine
  • Laye for any scripting/configuration
  • Eclipse for Java code
  • Sublime Text 3 for Laye code
  • LibGDX, self explanatory
  • Ableton Live 9 for music/effects
  • Paint.NET for graphics

Sounds like a fun time to mention what Laye is, too. Laye is my own scripting language written in Java. It’s by no means finished, it definitely needs some good refactoring and optimizing, not to mention all the features that I have yet to implement (it’s currently only at variables, basic control flow, functions, variable references, and simple data structures but that’s more than enough to do some things <3) Laye is the spritual successor to Score[Flat] and Hikari, two other languages I never finished. Laye is essentially the same thing as Hikari, tho, so I guess it’s less a successor and more just a name change…

So that’s how I’m planning to do things, hopefully the theme is good xD

In!

I’m not sure if I’ll be using Godot or OpenFL. Depends on OpenFL’s stability by Friday.

If Godot
Graphics: Blender, Krita
Audio: Renoise

If OpenFL
Graphics: GIMP
Audio: Renoise

I’ve got a small framework I’ll be using for OpenFL written, but a recent update broke it.

If I manage to fix it by then, I’ll post it. Otherwise vanilla Godot. Probably the beta.
