Low Poly Diorama Jam

gameJamIcon

I’ve started a Low Poly Diorama Jam on itch.io.

I think Low Poly Dioramas can look amazing so making a game set within or based upon this should be a good combination.

Made my LD30 entry InterSection into a full game and just released to Steam!

Hello everyone, I just released the full-length version of my LD30 entry (which won 3rd place in innovation) onto Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/416120/

AntAttack!

Well I’ve kinda made a start on miniLD#69…

Rather than humans colonizing something, I thought back to SimAnt…

Here is a Javascript browser-based made-in-an-hour ant colony simulator:

AntAttack

http://williame.github.io/LD/mini/69/

Its based on a quick glance at https://www.practicingruby.com/articles/ant-colony-simulation but its diverged quite a bit from that. Its rendering ‘debug’ info, showing how the sim works underneath.

The red dots are food sources and the blue dot is the ‘nest’.   Ants wander fairly aimlessly.

When they find food they suddenly lay down a ‘food pheromone’ trail (purple). They then try to find the nest again. If they find it, they lay down a ‘nest pheromone’ trail (yellow).

If ants wander across a food pheromone trail when they are seeking food they tend to follow it if its strong enough, and likewise nest pheromones when they are taking food home. After a while they end up with trails between food and nest.

The system can easily support obstacles etc. But right now the only obstacles are the edges of the canvas.

I have almost zero time to make a game in the coming week, so we’ll see if anything happens.

Haven’t quite worked out the gameplay yet. Maybe you have to help the ants, or maybe you have to kill them. Are you on the side of the ants, or are they the enemy? Suggestions welcome ?

Looking for friendly indie team 15 – 18yrs

Hi,

I am Ned Boulter, and I wish to put together a small indie team (consisting of no more than three people), to make a game, over these summer holidays.

Criteria:

Artist:

  • You must be good at pixel, and HD art. (HD art matters less, I love pixellated games)
  • 3D Modelling experience is good
  • good at level design – (Be willing to learn, it is fine if you don’t have any actual experience)
  • You must have few commitments during the Summer Holiday.

Musician – be able to make good music, I am very inexperienced in this area.

I have just finished my GCSE’s and will be going on to college after the summer holidays, so if you decide you join, you will be working, up until the end of the summer holiday.

After the summer holiday, we will likely remain friends, however, I cannot make any commitments after that point.

The most important criteria is that you are friendly, and it is important that we do not put pressure on each other, as it is mainly for fun. Please understand, that we may not finish a game, and that would be fine. If we do complete a game, it is even less likely we will try to release it. This would just be for the fun of seeing a game develop :D.

If you decide you don’t like the game half-way through development, we will discuss scrapping it, and starting again. If you decide you want to leave the team, that is fine, however it will probably ruin our chances of finishing a game.

I hope this is a good place to post this, it is my dream to work in a very small indie team, and thought, well… It’s worth a try, why not do it now :D.

If you are interested just drop your Skype name in the comments, and we will talk and discuss your work. After I decide I want to work with you, I will not “fire” you or anything childish like that, we will be working as friends. You must have a working microphone, be willing to speak on Skype, and you must speak good English. If you don’t wish to share your Skype name, add me, my name is “nednednednedned1” (I made it a long time ago :/)

Lastly, I will be programming the game in C++, with OpenGL, or Java with OpenGL, we will discuss which one. I am more in need of an artist than a musician (since there is no point in hiring a musician, with no artist, since we won’t have a game). However, I do think music is extremely important in games (Imagine DOOM without the music :o).

If this is the wrong place to post this message, also tell me in the comments, and I will remove the post.

Thanks 😀

Ned Boulter

Having discovered Stencyl for the first time last weekend, as part of a team in a game jam… please, learn something else. Stencyl is absolutely horrible, ESPECIALLY in a team setup.

MiniLD Game TestFlight

I’ve been working on a new game since RWDevCon 2016 called “To Russia With Love”, but might be change the name to “Arms Race”.  It is a colonization game which goes along with the theme, but since I’ve been working on it for months, I won’t be entering it.  I just wanted to get some followers on it’s twitter and instagram account, since it will be going into TestFlight Beta soon.  Thanks to all who follow!

I’m in!!

I think this is what you have to do to register hahaha

I’m In!

I believe this is how you register and I am really excited for this ludum dare. I’m like a child on Christmas Morning!
