Well, we made it! Just under the wire, and we have something semi-playable!
If there’s one thing we can take away from this experience, it’s that unique game experiences come with unique challenges, and maybe that’s not the ideal situation for a group of neophyte developers under a strict deadline. This weekend was filled with confusion and frustration but, ultimately, a sense of accomplishment and excitement.
When thinking of ancient technologies, we decided on the palanquin – the Uber of the 1st century. Being big fans of couch multiplayer games like Get On Top and No Brakes Valet, we wanted something we could play with our friends. To this end, we thought of a cooperative royalty carrying game. Four players must work together to convey the royalty safely to his destination.

Okay, so maybe it came out a little more QWOP than we expected. But, listen. We have something playable. The testers are actually enjoying it. Sure, there are some bugs. Sure, the game is short. But it’s loaded with charm and is the closest thing to a complete product any of us have ever submitted. I think I speak for the whole team when I say we’re extremely proud.
