I'm not making this post for you to vote for my game, I got way more rating then I'd hope for in my wildest dreams, but I know that many games still don't have the 20 ratings required to get a final score. I know many people must be spending time with their families or their new earned gift, which is great and I hope you all have a amazing time, but I believe their's no better gift for a game developer then receiving feedback on a game you made. It was our first ludum dare and we had so much fun creating this little game, haven't changed anything since the deadline so here are some tips : You can't close the Ad with the boot on it because reasons ( forgot to enable a script), you need 100k points in order to get a lootbox, you can only open one lootbox per play!

My game could use a few more votes. It's sort of a match-three style game, but not quite!

I'm a bit behind due to holiday vacation that happened shortly after voting began, and an illness that came with it that annoyingly persists. I'll be rating more games, and will try to get to the people who leave comments before voting closes, as well as a good chunk of danger zone games later this evening.

EDIT, and HUGE UPDATE: This is no longer a problem.

Apparently it's regular practice to switch the default filters back to Smart near the end of the rating period, and this has been done.

I apologize for my ignorance of this common practice, and for my potentially blowing things out of proportion. A combination of factors led me to believe that perhaps the only way I might be able to get these games rated is by putting the message out there like this, and, well, it worked, so I guess I wasn't entirely wrong.

In any case, much thanks to @pov for pushing out the changes. Everything should be well on its way now.

And, of course, now responsibility to get your game rated goes back to you -- if your game does not yet qualify for ranking, and you want it to, you best start rating some games.

There is a small-scale epidemic of games and users that are stuck in a very unfortunate predicimate: they have exactly zero real ability to get their game to twenty ratings.

Why? It's really quite simple: Ludum Dare is actively directing traffic away from their games.

Here's what's happening: the website is currently set with the Danger filter as the default filter for the game page. Users are actively encouraged to use this filter to rate games, and that is what they are doing.

But there is a huge problem with the Danger filter: it contains no variables that the author of a game can influence. There is simply no way for an author of a game to get on to the Danger filter without getting ratings, and -- here's the catch twenty two -- there's no way to really get ratings unless you are on the danger filter.

This leaves a set of users, such as myself, in a limbo where they can rate and rate and rate, and get very little return. It is important to note that it's not quite zero, but it's close enough -- I have been in the top eight of the Smart filter for the previous 10 hours, and have only received two ratings on my game as a result. See also this game, which has an absurd amount of given ratings for its pitiful 8 received.

Of course, a lot of the blame for this problem lies on myself and other similar users. But it is really frustrating to know that rating is still open, and yet there is nothing you can do to get ratings on your game -- despite the fact that there are people out there still actively rating games.

Because there's no way that the website itself is going to help out, simply because there's not enough time to discuss the relative benefits of having Danger games rated versus having games like my own rated, I have decided to take matters into my own hands.

Here's my plan: I will create a list of games in this situation on this post. Please comment if you are in a similar situation. The plan is then to have all associated users rate each others games. Hopefully there will be enough interested users that everybody's game will be rated.

I also am asking for about 15 other users to perhaps join in -- that is, stop rating Danger games, and start rating super-endangered games that have tried to participate in the rating themselves.

Note that I have not actually asked any of the other users in this list whether they will participate in this effort, so although I have noticed a couple of games in this situation and will be listing them here, I do not guarantee that any of these users will rate others' games.

Also note that some of these users have not yet rated twenty or more other games -- I'm using my own judgement to guess whether or not they are actively committed to participation in rating. I've tried to list the ones that have not yet rated very many games at the bottom.

Also note that the second game listed is my own, so be aware of any biases I might have. The ordering is otherwise mostly random; please try to rate these games randomly as well -- with the possible exception that games with a lot of ratings should be somewhat lower priority, as they are more likely to be caught up in the Danger filter. Of course, they should not be ignored, because nothing can be relied on in this situation.

Winter is nearly over! With your trusty sheep dog Jess, search the hills, round up your sheep and bring them down to the safety of the farm. Watch out for ravenous wolves and deep icy lakes!

Shepherdy! was inspired by the Herdwick sheep, an ancient hardy breed farmed for centuries in the English Lake District. The sheep are taken up to the high fells (hills) for the winter. In spring the shepherds round up their sheep and bring them back down the valley.

You need keyboard controls as well as mouse, so play on laptop or PC. Enjoy!

The game is an experiment in flocking algorithms. The sheep and wolves are governed by two different flocking behaviours. Basically, each entity moves towards the center of the herd and keeps an optimal distance from neighbouring entities.

For graphics we used Tinyspriteeditor and Gimp. Game sounds were created by us (mainly vocalisations and abuse of household objects), recorded on a smartphone and processed with Audacity. Music was done in the last hour before submission using LMMS.

Herdwick sheep have long thick fleeces and come in several colours including grey, inky blue and brown. During winter they wander the fells at heights of over 3,000 feet (around 1000 metres) and take care of themselves by foraging. They can weather the bitter winters and have been known to survive being buried under snow for days by eating their own wool. They were farmed for meat as well as wool. Herdwick mutton (meat) was served at the coronation banquet of Queen Elizabeth II.

The name comes from Old Norse herdvyck, meaning "sheep pasture". It’s thought they were brought to England by the Vikings.

The ewes teach their lambs which area of the fell (heaf) they should stay in. Herdwicks are still farmed today; thankfully the breed survived the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease that hit England and Wales in 2001.

We first thought the sheep dog should be a border collie but then chose a Rough Collie (like Lassie). Rough Collies originated in Scotland and Wales and have also been used for sheep herding in traditional hill farming. In the 19th Century Queen Victoria made the Rough Collie popular as a fashion accessory!

However the Graphics Gremlin threw a spanner in the works and our Jess ended up as some kind of mongrel terrier!

This was my first LD and I gotta say, the experience was awesome! My game got 30 ratings, so I will get a score.

I was impressed by the awesome people that participated and left some good tips, with a lot of them telling me that I should continue to work on my game.

So, I've decided to make a post jam version. I plan to release it tomorrow and it will include pretty much everything people suggested:

-beloved bug fixes

-rebalanced prices

-centered houses

-the whole map on one screen(this means getting rid of the movement)

-moving water

-the ability to upgrade the boat and assign people from your island to chop trees for you

-a slightly improved ui

-pause menu

It was our first jam at LD. Intense, deeply inspiring.

We managed to make a cyberpunk runner in the world where those nasty targeted advertisements are literally loaded to people’s heads.

Since it’s the final celebration of this great event, you, who haven’t tried our game AD-LIB: the Glitch Society, come on! Feel what it is to be the Creative of a small advertising agency in the world fully consumed by brain-eating monopolies.

A hint. The narrative part matters. Don’t just erratically close the pop-ups. There’s more story behind this atmospheric walk’n’clicker with electric dreaming touch.
