LD 42 August 10–13, 2018

Well, I'm in!

Ludum Dare is coming and I feel ready like never before. Once again I have an exam right before a jam (hate this tradition), so there's not enough time to prepare properly. This means that once again I'll stick to improvisation. It's always so much fun not to be sure where exactly you're going, isn't it? =)

This time I'm collaborating with @komnotmr, so we're possibly using Phaser 2 again with vim for coding like a pro and gimp for pixeling like a newbie. Some sound might appear in the game also, but I have no idea what crazy things we will use (Alda seems pretty good).

Important note: if you happen to be in Novosibirsk during Ludum Dare, consider jamming at The Boiling Point. We're there for the whole weekend, including the night time.

Have a nice jam everyone!

I'm in!

Been playing around with pico-8 lately and created a visualizer for music (pimped an existing visualizer really) that is free for remixing (CC and all that)

Test it here!!!

I'm in

It's still sort of early, but still, I'm in. I'll be using: - C++17 - SFML - Gimp - something for sound/music  - A small set of helper function/classes I'm currently working on

I'm really looking forward to this. I'm planning on having a different approach this time, mainly just using my time more wisely etc. but also trying to focus on the general look & feel of the game, though, it probably wont be too fun or pretty judging by my past games.

My first ld game I didn't finish
My second Ld game was nowhere near what I wanted it to be.
My third ld game... Well, I'll find out in 42!
Wish you all luck and see you at the rating stage!

Ludum Dare 42

Everyone else seems to be doing it, so let's see if this self-gratification works for me too: I'm in! Woohooooo! Nope, didn't work.

I'm in for LD42

I say I'm in. But I bet I have to work. So this is a very hopeful "I'm in" post :)

If I'm in, I really don't know what I'll make my game in this time.

Maybe just Javascript/HTML/CSS.

Graphics, I still use Fireworks for most stuff. Sound... won't get around to it, but if I do sfxr.

Uhmmmmm. Not sure what else. A text editor.

I'm In and Minigame Release!

I'm in! Starting 3 hours early is going to lose me 3 hours of time but I'm OK with that. I'm looking to create something different this time, most likely in 3D.

I've also (finally) wrapped up my entry for the 1 Hour Game Jam held directly after LD41. I don't remember what the theme was but I've only got about 5 hours worth of work on this so don't expect a whole lot:

RUN!!!

Of course I'm in!

I hadn't realised it was customary to make these entry blog posts, but I am in, just like I was last time.

I am working on my main project, computer stuff, and just trying to enjoy my summer.

I had an idea for a cool LD-appropriate game, but I have to forget about it or just make it on time I don't have, because it is bad to think of an idea before you know the theme. I'm sure you mirror this sentiment.

My LD 41 post-mortem video is in the works, and should be out before LD 42 starts. Be patient.

If you missed it, this is my LD 41 submission:

The video does work. Just click on it. It's the release trailer for the game.

I'm in!

Hi everyone! This will be my first Ludum Dare, (my third game jam overall). I'm really looking forward to participating in this one and future ones!

I'm currently working on a mobile game that was started as my previous game jam project, so hopefully, something greater will come out of LD42 for me as well. Currently, I'm just building my portfolio in order to get into the game industry on a professional level down the line.

For this jam, I will be using GameMaker Studio as my engine and Clip Studio Paint for all my art assets. I want to go into it with a clear mind, and no real preconceptions of what kind of a game it's going to be. It makes it more fun, I think. So we'll see what other software I'll end up needing.

I am inside

It's about time!

I'm in, hopefully.

Last time in 41 I got terribly sick, I still worked on a small project on and off, but I got stuck on some math and unfortunately gave up, retiring to some much needed rest.

This time, hopefully nothing will come up and I'll be in a finite condition to take part.

I’m in again

Time for my third LD Jam I feel more ready this time then I did last time.

Next one!

Finally a Ludum Dare not exactly during the GM48. Yay!

I'm In!!

Its my first game jam but am definitely looking forward to participating and seeing all the amazing creations!!

I am not certain yet but I will probably be using Unity 5 or Pygame for the Game design and Pixelmator for the Graphics with Garageband for the Audio

Second Game Jam!

LD42 will be my second game jam, just after LD41 that happened in April! I wish everyone the best and I hope to see some really awesome games!

I am doing the Jam category, so I have a teammate! What we are going to use:

Me, the programmer/coder: - Eclipse Oxygen April 2018 - The Java Programming Language - No external Java libraries, the game will be PURE Java.

My friend (Mark Hefer), the artist/graphics designer: - Aseprite (Yes, we are going for a pixel art game) - Wacom Intuos Draw Drawing Tablet (I believe)

And that's it! Good luck to you all, and I'd love to know what you'll be using!

We're in!

Looks like the same team that we usually have, the overlap with Otakon means one of our new team mates is gonna be gone for this run. This will be our 4th Ludum Dare as a team.

Team:
Currently a Programmer, Artist, Musician, and a Designer. We are hoping our Technical Artist/Animator will be coming on-board for next time.

Production Tools:
Unity 2018.2 or Unity 2017.4f1 depending on how stable 2018.2 ends up being.
Blender 2.79
Aesprite 1.2.7 w/ Cintiq
FL Studio 20
Audacity 2.2.2
A bunch of instruments we have in the house. We recently invested in a midi-capable piano so hopefully we'll hear some of that this go around.

Prototyping Tools:
Shadron 1.2.0b - Shaders
Pico-8 - Mechanics Testing
More Notecards and Graph Paper and Origami Paper than you can possibly imagine.

I'm in for my 8th consecutive Ludum Dare!

I think I'm slowly getting a better grasp of what makes a game good and I intend to spend more time on design this LD to actually make something good. I normally go completely overkill on content that nobody plays through, which is a huge waste of time. My goal is to finally make it to the top 100 overall.

My previous game jam entry: (for the Alakajam) gif_14.gif

I'll also almost definitely be making a platformer for this Ludum Dare as it's the genre I specialize in. I'm working on an MMO platformer right now, which is the closest I've got to recent platformer artwork: pic_6.png

What I'm using:

  • Python and Pygame
  • Bosca Ceoil (maybe LMMS if I get enough time to practice)
  • SFXR (maybe BFXR)
  • MS Paint / Px Editor (my own pixel art animation tool)
  • A really bad laptop. (1.7GHz dual core, 4GB RAM, integrated GPU) Hopefully I'll have built a desktop by LD 43.

This is my 11th 48 hour game jam. I haven't missed a single one for the two events I participate in. ^-^ (I thought it was my 7th LD and my last one was my 6th, but I had forgotten one of my entries)

GL all!
