LD 39 July 28–31, 2017

I am in

I will be using the Ren'Py visual novel engine this time around. The theme is interesting and inspiring and I'm looking forward to see what everyone is going to come up with. Good luck.

First ludum dare :D

So i had a pretty good idea that is already quite advanced in the development. Basically, you are a pirate captain and your crew is losing his trust in you. You loose your power as a captain by losing your crew, so you must keep your power on your crew by looting island and by attacking and looting other boat. idk if it really is respecting theme, but i like it so i will keep it. If your crew trust get to 0, the player lost. :)

Model

I Would say that This Blender Model Is Pretty Good For A 11 Year Old Kid Like Me Who Has Used Blender For about 4 Months Now. Although High-Poly Modeling Is something I Am Trying To AchieveScreen Shot 2017-07-29 at 08.56.36.png

IT'S ALIIIIVVVVEEEE!!!!

LD39 movement!.gif

I now have basic movement in place. Not quite as advanced as my last LD game but this time I want to make a more complex game in general. (The space on the top is for the HUD)

I'm going for the quite simple premise of power being your ammo, your health and petty much your everything.

Day One

I've had a very productive Day One. When I heard the theme name, I got ideas pretty quickly, and I started developing something on a space station. Okay, it's going to be extremely primitive, and that's OKAY! So far I have a map designed, I have movement controls working (including SHIFT to RUN), and big plans for tomorrow.my game day one.gif

Starting point

I'm going to write an interactive story using Twine. I think I got a starting point for that story. I'll post the beginning once I have something to show :)

I have an idea.

I can't start actively making my game until later due to a long day at work but that will allow me to work through what I want to do fairly thoroughly so I will hopefully have most of it planned out before I start building it.

You will be a guard in an military research lab that experimented with energy based weapons/robotics, possibly underground. Something caused the scientists to lose control and the facility to start losing power. You must work your way though, preventing the experiments from escaping and trying to restore power and the security systems.

  • You will have a singular rechargeable, portable power source. this will power your weapons and equipment and will effectively be your life
  • You will start with an energy based weapon.
  • Possible other weapons/upgrades etc.
  • Power source will power doors/computers.
  • A chance to recharge at the end of a level
  • The game ends when you restore power.

I'm going to keep working through this as the day goes on, I just hope I'm able to actually build this.

Good luck everyone.

Prototype

My prototype is working! I only need graphics, sound, and a good ui. :) pt1.PNG

Design doc finished!

Just finished the design doc for the game, it'll be a mad max inspired resource driven survival turn-based rpg! (that's a mouthful for sure).

The graphics will be super simple this time around, aiming for a 160x120 base that I will scale up x4 to get a retro feel.

I'm aiming to make it a 10 level game with a defined start and finish, but right now anything can happen. I'll start by making super simple placeholder graphics so that I can start with implementing the basic mechanics, and then take it from there!

I'll try to be a bit more active on the blog this time around. And here's an image of the legendary design doc

Cheerz!

First pass of gameplay mechanics

Hi All,

Here is a sneak preview of my game. Think of enviro-bear with limited power for each control. Art is still super WIP and enviroment will be replaced!

Thanks.

Let's do dis!

Ok for this compo, I'm thinking about a sort of horror game. Sort of. The idea is: -The player start at the entrance of a cave of some sort. -You can only go further in. -As you go through the cave your torch start to run out of battery. -You can charge the torch with another battery, but there's a limited number of them, and changing battery makes you have no source of light. -Which is sad, because there's some... Things in there. And while the good things doesn't seems to mind about the torch, the bad things kinda does. Will you find a way to get out? Or will the bottom be empty? -Also random generation. Kinda. -Probably a length of three levels, with a duration of 4 screen by level. I hope I'll be able to make this.

Just starting

just starting now and already have a rough idea of what im doing though with a potato for a pc I doubt ill get very far as something I have been woirking on for about a week now is starting to slow down

SAP: Day 1 Progress

First Ludum Dare

So this is my first Ludum Dare, and I'm super excited. I love the theme. Decided to do a power grid management game that becomes harder and harder to meet the requirements until eventually it becomes impossible and the country loses power. Originally thought about doing a pipes game, but literally first thing i saw was someone else doing the same thing.

So far I have gotten the general structure done. Currently you can only build wind turbines and only in a single plot. The goal is to be able to build 5 types of power plants, in 5-6 defined building plots. Players will also have to purchase quota and will make a certain amount per GW of their quota that they meet. Failure to meet quota will result in a penalty, as well as any amount over the quota will either be paid at a significantly lower price or perhaps not at all, not really sure on this one yet.

Anyways lots of work tomorrow, but its now 1:32 am and I've had a migrain for the last like 5 hours, so going to go ahead and call it quits for the night.

I'm in

Against my better judgement, I'm in!
