Virtual billboard finally released... kinda

Note:You're going to see a lot posts of this game, because I can't contact people that were interested in this. I'm very sorry.

Hey check this out: https://youtu.be/tk23dofa9wA

Finally that virtual billboard is released. At least for now.

If you don't like using it, then I get it. It's really unfinished, but you can download this "demo" that was released due to ldjam. Write a comment if you are gonna use it! There are a lot of more features to come.

Plans for LD 44

This year will be a bit different than other years I've done Ludum Dare. I plan to showcase my final game at a BBQ on Sunday to a bunch of friends before we watch the 3rd episode of Game of Thrones. With that in mind, I've already selected couch co-op as one of the main features I'll be aiming for. Bonus points if it's GoT themed!

Here's to a great Ludum Dare for everyone!

LD44 is Here!

As you can tell I only have a keen interest on a few of the final theme, but knowing Ludum Dare there is a greater chance one of the red ones will get picked. As such I'm spending tonight brainstorming ideas that could suit one or all of them, so when the theme is announced I'll have an idea I can grasp.

I also have my rules, made with a slight adjustment from the last Ludum Dare I did after some feedback.

  • Gameplay First - Your game might look/sound great and have a really nice menu but it won’t be a well-built game if not a finished game if you leave it at the last minute. Have your game prototype ready by the end of the first day.
  • Small Scope - My general amount of scope for a games jam is one main/unique game mechanic and two optional ones. It’s not worth putting so many mechanics and features in your game if you don’t have the time for it.
  • Know your Tools - I plan to use my own C++ engine, as well as Photoshop and Piskell for visuals and BFXR/LMMS for audio. All of which I’ve used previously and know very well. While supporting many platforms including web will help, it’s not worth using an engine or software because everyone else uses it and makes great stuff with it.
  • Stick Mostly with What You Know - Trying to learn a new mechanic, genre or art style as a project is fun, but don’t over do it, especially when you only have 48 hours. Time spent struggling or figuring out how to implement something new could be used to deliver more of what you already know how to implement.
  • Make Your Content Easy and Noticeable - Don’t feel you have to put the extra effort in how your game looks and sounds when you’re at that stage, but if you do don’t focus it on something the players aren’t gonna notice. Sometimes big simple designs work better.
  • 621 - Six hours of sleep, Two meals and One shower per day. Don’t pull all-nighters, don’t skip or replace meals with energy drinks and savoury stuff and calm yourself down for a bit while being hygienic.
  • Take a Walk - A breath of fresh air will help you think of solutions to that one bug that you cannot figure out how to fix or that mechanic that doesn’t feel right.
  • Find a Friend - If you’re gonna go the jam route, see if you can get friends on board. If you work together it’ll be more collaborative and less pressure on you. Be sure to find a decent way to thank them after it’s all over. Even if you're going solo for the compo, having a friend to bounce off ideas and improvements is always beneficial and eases off stress.

Best of luck everyone! I look forward to seeing the output.

Looking forward to my 12th LD jam!

Hyped for another gamejam! Hoping to spend most of the weekend with some relaxed jamming from home. Might make some music-related game.

First LD

I'm excited to participate in my first LD! I'll be using Pico8.

First time

I'm super excited to try LD for the first time !!!

Homebrew entry?

I really want to make a game for Nintendo DS but players will need an emulator or flash card to play it

I'm afraid that most of people won't be wasting their time to set this up and i won't reach even 20 votes

Take a risk and do what i want or play it save?

First Ludum Dare!

Excited for this as it will be my first Ludum Dare! I'll be using Unity and going solo as I'm still learning things. Hopefully, time will permit me to finish and I can make something to be proud of. Good luck, everyone!

Streaming with multiple monitors?

Hey LD community i'm new and I was hoping to stream the LD processes, but i use two monitors as well as multiple desktops when i'm programming. Anyone have any suggestions on which which window to stream or if there is software that follows the active monitor/window? even if you don't have suggestions i'd love to hear how you've done it in the past if you have

I'm in...if work allows me to!

Once again trying to make a game, but full of work to do!

I might use tools related with what I'm currently working with, so I might go with Phaser.

Updates on tools coming up soon!

Not that anyone minds, tho :shrug_tone1:

Good Luck and Have Fun, Everyone!

Final Round Voting

Some okay themes in the final round. I did vote for One Room and Two Button in the first one, was interested in exploring some puzzle elements, since I've recently played ZeroEscape VLR and Zero Time Dilemma

Well, there goes my favourite Theme

Really hoped for "Normal Jobs but in Space" - but sadly that one is out already. Well, we have to just take what we get, right ;-)

Anyhow, my tools are all set up, got my new Laptop up and running, Godot setup as well as the Mono Dev Environment, Git as well as all tools for Art and Music Creation set up on my iPad. So I'm ready to go!

Edit: Oh yeah, preparation will actually consist of a MTG Midnight Pre-Release of the new set. So this should be interesting!
